thinking about competing.....
I had a great workout today..... and for the 1st time - I looked in the mirror and thought "damn..... I've come a long way!"
I measured arms today..... both were 18 1/2" and I weighed in at 240.5lbs..... I normally don't care about arm measurments but I almost hit the floor when i saw they were over 18".
So anyways..... I got the itch to compete today. I figured i'd keep trying to bulk a bit more..... try to hit 250 at 12%bf and then have you guys evaluate me. I'm just real nervous about stepping on stage..... not really sure why. What made some of you guys decided to compete? Is it something you shot for when you started bodybuilding or did you just decide one day to try it?
Obviously i'm still on the fence about doing it.....

For me, I was already eating, training and doing cardio like a bodybuilder so competing seemed like the next logical step. The biggest reason was just the challenge of it. Having an opportunity to do something so few people can do, motivated me then and still does now. I love training so much and competing just makes everything more intense. As I stated in the interview with Marcus, the difference between competing and just working out is the same as playing an actual golf course or just staying on the driving range. Way more challenges but you will end up better in the long run. I think you need to get off the fence and go for it Haz.

Way to go Hazard. It's nice when you feel GOOD about yourself.
I just changed up routine because the last year I dont feel I have grown MUCH... My legs have and I have toned up a lot but I want to get my arms up to/over the 18" mark also. Currently stuck at 17+
DAMN what a difference changing up makes. Im SORE... Less reps/sets and heavier sets. I think I have been over training a little.
What do you think bumped you over the 18" mark?

Yea - I already eat and train like one..... just don't do cardio like one LOL!
Seems like since starting HGH everything has grown much better. I started incorporating heavy hammer curls to my routine and also heavy close grip benches.
Yea...... I thought about that LOL - wont be a problem for me tho..... i've gone months and months before and thats without having a huge goal in sight lol.....
Thanks for the encouragement guys..... I'll see where I am after I bulk again and then possibly start looking for a show.....

Ay, fight and you may die, run and you'll live. At least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom.

if that's you in your avatar, i say do it up....
it'll also allow you to be judged and then work on what they may see as your "weak spots"
why the hell not?

it takes a lot of balls to get up on tha stage and have people judge ur body, sumthing you have put ur all in, tryed ur hardest, and focused so much time and efffort into changing it to be as close to perfect as you can . I want to compete, i have to or all this time and effort and money iv put in my body has been wasted in a way. i wanted to compete when i first got into lifting. Last year i dieted for 8wks getting ready for a show, doesnt sound like much but im pretty lean year round and cut really quick, i did everything i had to do perfectly except start dehydrating because i got sick about 4 days out, i was shreded beyond realiy it was insane, my abs were so deep my gf could put a quarter up to them n i could hold it when id flex. i ended up not stepping on stage cause i was sick but really i was scared to try and scared i would fail and let myself down. i ended up going to the show with my buddy to watch it and watch a girl i train with from time to time who was in the comp. The guy who won and took over all looked amazing he realy was perfect i was shocked he wasnt a pro, i wouldnt have won the over all but i would have taken 2nd or 3rd at the least. i was really up set with myself that i hadnt done it after i delt with the shits from pgcl and the tighest diet iv ever had. i was 190or 195 cut as can be, im 215 right now and really lean, im gona bulk to 220-225lbs and decide then what show i should do.
