Frickin pop ups- whats the steps
Another Pheedno computer ignorance post:
These things are getting ridiculous.
What steps do you guys make to rid yourselves of these annoying plagues.

get zone alarm or some other type of software that does not allow pop ups

I'm actually curious how to stop ** popups as well. You know, as soon as I switched to XP from windows 98, all these ** messages started coming and they're fucking annoying.

Same shit here bro. Switched to Xp and now every few minutes I get pop up boxes.

No ads...
Ok guys check this out,
Go to www.download.com and search for No-ads. Download this software. No-ads runs in your tool bar, but don't worry it does not use much bandwidth. Here's how it works.
When you get a pop up DON'T close it. Open no-ads, from your tool bar. It will show you all the programs you have running, including that popup. Find the popup on the list and of programs and then click "add to targets". You'll never see that popup again. It's kind of a pain in the ass for the first week or so but after that your home free. I get on about once every two weeks now.

norton's firewall does the trick for me

For pop up messages I just turned on XP's internal firewall. Works like a charm
