It's been good riding weather here for over a month. Minus some rainy weeks. I miss my bike so much!

A lot of people start off with a 250 and regret it a month later. The bike above was my first bike. I bought it bone stock and put about $2500 into it. It's an 2001 Honda cbr 600f4i. I would suggest getting a 600 for your first bike. I'm biased to Honda so naturally I'm gonna say go 01-03 Honda if you go with the f4i or 2001 and up if you go with the rr. After 03 on the f4i they go back to a banana seat which is more comfortable but less attractive.

I've ridden many other bikes from buells to gsxrs and to me the Honda is the best. I believe the op here will agree. Used Hondas are also decently priced.

People always say they don't want a 600 to start out with because they've never ridden before. Just remember the bike only goes as fast as you make it go. So as long as you are safe and smart you're good to go.

    +1 to stack_it.

I agree. The 01-03 F4i's are probably you're best bet. They have a great balance of power / agility / looks and can be had for a decent price.

I would however suggest you hit a local dealership if possible and try sitting on a few different bikes - Suzuki / Kawasaki / Honda etc to see what you like better.

If you're on the shorter size Kaws will probably fit you better without modification.

My buddy just purchased a 2007600RR that I rode back from the dealership for him. Has very similar riding position but slightly more aggressive to my '02 600 F4i - just go get a feel for them.

I would also suggest starting on a 600cc bike. Thats what I did - just take it slow and don't do anything crazy.

BUT MOST IMPORTANT - take a MSF class before you make any decisions. An MSF beginner course will teach you the basics and give you a good foundation to build on. Its set up to take care of you even if you're never even sat on a bike before.

Thanks. I'm going crazy not having one. I'll have to wait till next year tho. I've been cleaning up costly mistakes from the past so no extra cash for a bike right now.

Check out your local colleges. They usually offer a couple a year.

My middle age crisis continues ... I want one of those bikes, now! My buddy and company counterpart in Michigan has 4 or 5 of these bikes (CBR, GSX, etc). Rode in the 80's and early 90's, looks like a whole different game! Sign me up

i agree with these guys a 600 would be a good first bike.

I had a cbr600f3 for my first bike. Then gsx-r's i wouldnt buy another honda. They are good bikes but they just dont compare.
