Ya, it's been around, but it should probably be a sticky on here some place. The "justice" system is not something you want to mess around with.

Ive had a couple of interactions with cops and heres what blows my mind.
After listening to this I realized I got let go on something when they could have busted me if they wanted to. Just happened to be a nice cop I was talking to.

I hope everybody on here remembers this for the rest of their life. This is one of the most important pieces of information you should know.
Don't talk. Name & Birthdate. That's it. Tell your story once in front of the judge.

This is the most excellent advice. BUT, if you are experienced in being interrogated by police (never me I always been a good good boy) You can do things like tell them "I don't want to answer any questions from any law enforcement or any members, employees, or agents of the government." (this will put u into the constitutional nut or anarchist category as they are profiling you- which they are doing and have been doing since they first laid eyes on you, and especially since they approached you). It can be a better approach as they will see you as anti-government and not someone experienced with the legal system and 'lawyering up'.
Another tactic, is to appeal to their ego, although u must come across as sincere. I told a couple of cops that I think they are nothing short of hero's because when a call comes in of some dude chasing his wife with an axe everyone in the world is running 100mph to get away from them, while the police jump in their cars and drive 100mph to put themselves in between the guy with the axe and his intended murder victim. I also told them I think that it is unfair for both cops to be expected to perform such super high stress duties and then at the same time be expected to perform mundane and routine traffic stops, etc... that the adrenaline levels are so high in the dangerous situations, when they are involved with average citizens in routine situations it creates unnecessary tensions between police and the citizens. I told them I don't blame police for that, I blame politicians.
The cops response? "I couldn't have put it better myself, your free to go, have a nice day." (They could have issued me at least 2 citations.
When asked if I minded if they searched me I made it a point to state "I do not object to a TERRY PAT (as in a brief pat down of the outside of one's clothes for something that feels like a weapon, I was putting him on notice that I know the law and will not be emptying my pockets, and if so it will be under duress and I understand the difference from a legal TERRY PAT and a REQUEST and NOT a REQUIREMENT for one to empy one's pockets or tell an officer what some non weapon like feeling object in their clothing is.
If you know they can't bag you for anything (as in have no legal right to search, etc) it can also be amusing, especially with a rookie (only after stating you do not want to answer any questions (in case it goes into the court room you can bring this up) to reply to a question "That conversation does not interest me."
The rookie was befuddled by that response to his question and kept his mouth shut for the remainder of the encounter (which started with me saying the I don't want to answer any questions, IMMEDIATELY followed by my stating "and I would like to leave as soon as I am legally allowed to do so."
But don't try to get cute like this unless you are comfortable asserting your rights, experienced with psychological intimidation tactics, know the law and your rights, etc.
And don't piss them off unless you can afford a very expensive lawyer as they may f u out of spite and lie in their report and in court.
