    Benching After Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Doc told me to take a week off, but I'm not bleeding and only had one pulled (top). Also didn't take any pain meds for it. It's been 4.5 days since the surgery. I lifted light the day after so should I be ok to lift heavy on bench today?

After I had my wisdom teeth pulled I couldnt bench heavy for about a week. I think its because when I bench heavy I tend to clench my teeth and bite down and that caused a lot of pain for me. But in my case I had all 4 pulled out so it might not be the same pain for you... Let us know how it goes if you attempt the heavy weight.

Take some time off. Gritting your teeth can cause problems, but I would be more worried about the clot coming out of the gum.

If that clot comes out, you're going to have A LOT of pain, and a hole in your gum. You won't like that pain.

You can cause a dry socket if you dislodge that clot. You should wait until you're fully healed, as per the oral surgeon's instructions. I'm sure they mentioned how many days before ou can lift heavy. I tend to be annoyed somewhat by these kinds of posts, because 99.99% of the people who post on here will never compete, and just take the "being hardcore" shit a little too far, especially when it comes to their health. If you are never going to make a living from your body, then there is absolutely no reason to risk your health to losing a few gym sessions. I'm guessing this was just a general question and you forgot what time frame the oral surgeon gave you, but just venting my frustration about the amount of ****in douchebags on here who want to lift against their doctors orders for any number of health conditions they're told not to.

this is the biggest concern... and this is an incredibly painful thing to go through... I always recommend to patients to not do anything strenuous for at least 5 days just to be sure, you can clench, and even cause a bit of suction in your mouth if you lips close and loosening the clot can lead to a bad infection.
