Apache attacks camera crew in Iraq.
A buddy of mine told me about this and I haven't seen it on here so if I figured I'd share it with y'all. Can't really blame the pilots. I'm sure the cameramen knew they were in danger of being fire upon while over there. Still sucks all the way around tho.

it does suck, bro. don't walk around an active war site with a dark object that has a shoulder strap. and if you have to, make damn sure that dudes in apaches know that you're not a threat.
o and bring a couple of children to a site that is being engaged by a fifty cal to retrieve the bodies...smart.

If you research it deeply you'll find out a man in the crowd did have an AK 47 pictures of it can be found in the aftermath. Reporters in a hotzone should know better. and also I agree with Goodlifting, clearly bringing kids into a place where carside bombs are a problem isnt smart. Here we go Blame the Americans.

Im not blaming America. I would have done the same thing.
If you believe they had an ak on them just because there's a still photo of one in the aftermath you are way too naive. Not saying 100% that there wasn't but chances are the soldiers put it there to cover there asses.

No if you listen to them they say they see guns. From a helicopter could you tell the difference between a gun and a telephoto lens in a hotzone?
Also I wasn't talking about you blaming America.

Here's the raw footage look at 55-58 seconds and there is a man with an AK 47 looking item and one with what looks like an RPG in an area where RPG fire is happening, whom arent the reporters.

Wasn't sure if you were talking about me so I just clarified it.
I know they say it looked like an ak47 but there's no telling if it really was by that video. To me it would seem smart for the camera crew to have protection.
As far as the rpg goes. A tv camera on the shoulder of a guy could easily look like an rpg.
I agree with a lot of your view on this but I don't think blame can be pointed in either direction. It's a war and tradgedies like this happen everyday.
You can blame the people for bringing kids tho. That's just dumb.

people over there dont even care about their kids. They have shot kids in school yards for looking wrong at people. The value for human life over there is rediculous. Cows are worth more

I think videos like this shouldn't be released to the public.
I love when they talk about "rules of engagement." Give me a #$#ing break. What rules do these guys follow ?

or maybe you liked the roe back in 04 when we had to get shot at first? what is your ideal roe?
They change depending on the situation. We are actually probably the only country that follows the geneva convention really.
Why should we follow it if they dont? yet we do. We do nothing but try to do the right thing and something like this pops up and everyone gets pissed off.
WOuld you be more pissed if you saw a video of american troops getting shot at ..but cant shoot back until they are given ordres to? and our troops die?
****in whiny ****in people these days. everyone wants to bitch about something. but no one wants to pick up an m4 and fight.

Nice to see the Apache working out. Sucks they died if they indeed were civilian reporters, but usually when I don't feel like being shot at by military aircraft I stay out of warzones.

ROE only work in the ring when there is a referee. War sucks, there are always casualty but it's even worse when the enemy is arming 8, 10, 12 year old kids with guns and they are your enemy. Why do you think so many people come back fvcked up in the head. I could not imagine and neither could most of us unless we have been through it.

These guys are being engaged from afar. most of the people being trounced by Apaches never hear or know where the fvck it's coming from. thousands of meters at times. many times the insurgents aren't even running in the right direction, or think they're safe after finding a bit of cover.
I would rather be hellfired than have to try and run from that ungodly 30mm cannon bursting in my direction:
I don't agree with DSM. Vids like this bring the war into perspective and it forces you to pull your head out of the sand for a minute and experience the atrocities people in war zones have to endure on a daily basis.
maybe vids like this will inspire more people to help end these wars or prevent future mistakes. i know it sounds cheesy but sometimes a dose of reality can change things.

This gives some perspective as to just how big those 30mm rounds are.

Im sure these apache guys just thought they were guys armed with rpgs instead of cameras, im sure they feel awful knowing now that they were reporters.

We should just move up the skynet program. No one would ever start a war with us again. Then we can amend the law so arnie can be president. That would be a badass US.
