you know what's funny..i remember when star trek then next generation came out in '87 they had the lcars system where they used touchscreen computers...my dad and i would talk about how cool that would be...and 20 years later we have the iphone/ipad with its touchscreen....not bad.

The Science Fiction of today is the Science Fact of tomorrow.

Im pretty sure a few scientists have said a lot of the technology on Star Trek is possible, with the exception of Warp Speed and "Beaming Up".

I reckon within 50 years, Tractor Beams and Holodecks will be the norm.

holodecks of sort will be sooner than that. We will make it for kids games first then practical application...that seems to be the norm.

Yup, I have been saying and hearing that for 30 years.... Many times I said that is possible.

I read in popular science about many things that came from startrek like the medical hand scanner, obviously the laser gun and the best a few years ago I read they can transport certain objects form one location to another.... COOL...
