    Countdown to Gran Turismo 5!!!

November 2nd 2010. Mark it on the calender. This game is one of the main reasons I bought a PS3. Its release has been pushed back so many times that at this point if this game isnt damn near perfect it will be a disappointment.

I cant speak for the gameplay but graphically it looks insane. The most realistic racing game I have ever seen and this isnt even the finished product.
The lighting and textures are just unbelievable.

    Theyve even added go-carts!

With Gran Turismo's track record for depth and options I have a feeling I am going to lose an uncountable number of hours of my life to this game.

Like you guys, this is the only reason I bought a PS3. I bought it a couple years ago when the game was SUPPOSED to come out, then Polyphony kept pushing the release dates back. How I've suffered. I've barely even touched my PS3, only to watch bluray movies. I used it to play Metal Gear 4, but that only took a few days to beat.

I'm so ****ing excited. My gf says she's going to dump me when it comes out...unfortunately for her I've been waiting for this game longer than we've been together! I even went ahead and reserved the deluxe edition, which I never do when it comes to video games. I usually don't care about all the extra garbage that comes with games you pre-order. The deluxe edition has awesome stuff in it, though.

Come Nov. 2 my PS3 will finally fill it's worth.

Forza is OK...but it just doesn't compare. I don't know exactly why, but it doesn't match the feel that the GT series has. I've always been a car fanatic, my current car is the only one I've ever left stock, and thats only because BMWs are insanely expensive to get parts for.

I think the limited tuning capabilities of Forza is what really turns me off about it. It's fun for a while, but I just quit playing it after a month or so. I got bored.

That's cos you own an M5 and I know for a fact that a gearbox over haul etc is going to cost 15k euro my friend had to pay that there recently on one lol.

I think there are loads of tuning capabilities with Foza such as the way you can change cars from FWD to RWD. But as you say it does get boring the best part is the online drifting in it but then you have to actually play the game to get good at that lol.

The thing is, Forza is like the child's version of GT. When you're a kid you play Forza...when you grow up you play GT. Yeah Forza has tuning options and all that, but GT goes even further into tuning. I think Forza is more of a showboating experience. They put a lot of emphasis on livery and the way your car looks, GT is more about tuning expertise and finding that perfect setup.

Even without all that, the feel of the cars in Forza doesn't compare to that of GT. That being said, GT isn't for everyone. I think if you aren't nuts about every aspect of cars, then you'll find GT frustrating and boring. Forza makes it easy for people who don't understand suspension dynamics and what not, you can just go online and buy people's tuning setups with in-game money, and not even bother with having to do the tuning yourself. GT is for the hardcore people.

Even GT's creator, Kazunori Yamauchi raced a Lexus IS-F in the 24 hours of Nurburgring (you can see the videos on GT Channel, and on the Gran Turismo website)! With a company such as Polyphony (who also designed the graphical displays for the new GTR) so involved in motorsports, you can't expect that they'd produce anything less than the absolute BEST racing simulator available.

I know I love GT more so than Forza so I know what you are saying. I am going to be buying a PS3 for just this game.

The karts should be interesting. I wonder if they will have it open in the beginning of the game as to follow the progression of a motorsports career, starting with karting as most of them do.

I'm not so stoked about the NASCAR part, though.

Awesome! This game is gonna be off the chain.

On a side note, do any of you guys use that inside the cockpit view when playing racing games?

Maybe I will try to use it more to get used to it. I find it hard to judge how close you are to things without seeing your entire car. It look so friggen sweet though. I usually use the tight zoom right up on the back bumper.

I've never been able to use it for more than a few minutes. I feel like I cant see enough of the track when I'm using that view. I like the bumper view. I will try to take advantage of the fully modeled and rendered interiors in the new GT though.

I'm the same I only use the bumper view too. Didn't the first GT have dynamic weather too where it would just rain in the middle of races?
