Why do I need 8+ hours of sleep every night?
I swear, if I get any less than 8 hours of sleep, I feel like complete dogshit. If I get 8+, I feel great. If I get 12, I feel awesome. After 12 hours of sleep, a bunch of food, then some Jack3d on a mostly empty stomach, and I'm ready to lift for hours. I just can't function well on low sleep. Seems like it's about as important as diet.
Some people can do fine with less than 8, but I can't. Never could. I'll feel the deficit all day long. Stimulants don't even work.

Everyone is different but i am the same as you. To feel fully refreshed i need at least 8-10 hours of sleep. On the weekends when i have nothing to do i will normally sleep for 12-14 hrs.

I put a premium on good sleep....especially knowing this is when I get my natural GH! I love to get at least 8 hours...prefer more actually and feel no guilt doing so....

God I wish.... If I can get 6hr a night for more than 2 nights in a row Im great. I cant remember the last time I had more than 3 night of 6+ hrs of GOOD sleep, honestly it's been years.
I'm not sure what I would do with 8 hrs for 3+ days. Usually once every 2 or 3 weeks I will sleep 12+ hrs but it's interrupted and it's after being up for 36+ hrs straight and usually the last 2 weeks has been 4 hrs a night if Im lucky.

That sucks. And on a side note; has anyone tried Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Somatomax? Haven't had it in a while, but damn if it didn't give the most restorative sleep. I liked it.

Seven hours and im good to go...Haven' t heard of somatomax. I take about 3 mg melatonin every night and i sleep threw the night good...If i don't, i can sleep for shit..Then its another big caffeine induced day....

I always forget to try/use the melatonin on a regular basis. I need to try to do it more and see what happens. I have only tried 2mg, not 3mg yet.

how do you guys sleep that long? i sleep 6-7 hours. probably due to shift rotation with work (my week - 2 evenings, 1 mid day / morning, 2 mornings). even on my evening shifts i'll go to bed at 11 / 12 and still be up before 7. harsh. my circadian rhythm is jacked up
not to mention i drink water before bed, so i wake up to pee every morning around 2 or so. i do this on purpose though as i'll have a shake ready in the fridge and down in then go back to bed

6-7 hours a night is best for me. I can't sleep more than 6 hours. I feel more energetic with 6 hours than 10.

Pretty much the exact same here! I just can't get sleepy no matter what I do! I even have a script for ambien and after the first night of taking it I get hyped up from it. Same thing narcotic pain meds. I had to take those when I had my back surgery and those hyped me up as well, so who knows. The only thing that knocks me out is 3-4 benadryl and I feel like shit the next day from it.

I take some melatonin or ketotifen. Keto makes me real drowsy.

You have ADD or ADHD? My friend does, and he's the exact same way. My sleep has always been tied to my cardio conditioning; The better shape I'm in, the closer to 8 hours I get. If I'm outta shape, I need more. But when I was in my prime condition, I'd pop wide awake after 8 hours, regardless of when I went to sleep.

5-6 hours is all I've gotten for a while.
On the weekends I'll get 8-9 and feel drowsy the next day.

Went to bed at 2, got up at 8:30. 6 1/2 hrs of sleep. Feel terrible, bad workout, horrible mood. Angry.

give me 4-6 hours of good sleep and i'm golden for another 48 LMAO!
Especially being on tren ..... I wake up every 45 minutes and get maybe a total of 6 hours of sleep on average. I function just fine..... It's when I sleep over 9 hours that I start feeling like shit. Over sleeping kills me.....

Yeah, some people feel bad when oversleeping. I don't have that issue. I feel awesome after sleeping 10,12,13 hours .

it enters all 4 stages of REM sleep when you get the right amount

I sleep around 6 hours per night during the week, on the weekends usually around 8 hours of sleep. I used to get 8-10 hours of sleep everyday and was more tired then than now.
Only difference is it takes me a little longer to wake up in the morning but I quickly take care of that with a lot of caffeine.

That would be a YES for me, ADD. Ambien works for me most of the time. I TRY not to take it often or you get use to needing it.
The Melatonin I have is 5mg. I have taken 2 at a time, didnt seem to do anything but I will try taking 2 or 3 EVERY day before bed and see if it will help me maintain better sleep.
If/when I use to get a good solid 6hr a day regularly I was golden. Anything over 8 would usually mess me up. My live/schedule is so messed up most of the time I dont know if I am coming or going, litteraly. I had no idea I had been up for over 48 hrs straight (probably 60+) until my boss called to see if I wanted to come into work OT and my woman said NO way.... $$$$
I ALWAYS have to much going on especially on my days off. Things to do for the home/family, Daughter alwasy needing to go somewhere or missed the school bus... mother needs to go to the eye doctor, hip doctor or needs something fixed at home ASAP and about 100 other things that seem to come up.
Ohh yeah, I work nights also, 6pm - 6am, 12 hr shifts so I am already limited on time and then when xy or z happens it means NO sleep.
I am going to TRY to get back on routine where I have GOOD sleep habits so I can reach my goals because the last few months SUCK. Even been fighting some stomach bug for 2 weeks now or maybe it's just lack of sleep/stress? Just feeling nauseous pretty much 24/7 and worse after eating.. Not exactly a good combination when you are TRYING to eat, gain, maintain, build....

For me, anything less than 8 = I'm in a fog and feel weak and horrible. Caffeine almost makes it worse. If I oversleep, I feel great. Caffeine makes it better! Maybe I'm just an alien from another planet. Or I like to dream a lot (which I do). Dreams are sometimes much better than this life.

Sometimes I think the time you go to sleep is as important in light of how much sleep you actually get.
If I go to bed at 10 (rare), and im up at 7am, I usually feel great. If I go to bed at midnight or later, wake up at 8 or 9 am, i still feel dog tired.

I for about a year straight 5 days out of the week I would get 4-6 hours of sleep tops and on the weekends normally around 6-7 and I can honestly say I hated getting up out of bed with a passion lol i wanted to lay in there forever but as soon as I would hop out of bed I was perfectly fine and good to go and I would never fall asleep in class or anything not evern get the urge. Now I have been trying to get more sleep and for some reason when im getting 6-8 I feel even more tired and its even harder to get out of bed. I feel lazier throughout the day too so idk lol guess less sleep is better for me

I've figured out my rhythms finally; I can get 5 hours and be great, because I think that's right when I'm coming out of a REM cycle. Same with 7 hours. But if I get any variation in between, i'm Fooooked for the day.
