Awesome Animals
Thought this would be a fun little thread to post some pics of animals you think are cool or awesome, maybe a lil explanation as to why.
Liger
The hybrid offspring of a Lion and Tiger, these hybrids tend to be much larger than their parents. The one in the pic above is the largest big cat in captivity. "Hercules" weighs 1100 pounds.
Honey Badger
Officially, the worlds toughest, most fearless animal. This animal will attack, and kill cobras for food. Even if bitten and paralysis sets in, the honey badger immunity system will bring it back round after an hour or so. Honey Badgers are so fearless that they will even stand up to animals as big as lionesses that disturb it's hunting.
Lyre Bird
While this bird might not look like anything special, what makes this cool is how it can eerily immitate sounds. Anything upto 20 different birds, but more impressively it can immitate other noises such as chainsaws, camera shutters and car alarms. Really has to be seen to be believed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjE0Kdfos4Y

i got them here in ireland, direct bloodlines from the founder of the breed in the US. google em and you will find out all about em, you want to get bloodlines from the 'legend cats' they are true bobcat bloodlines, alot of articles on line dismiss the fact tht they are bobcat hybrids but mine 100% are. be very careful, unscrupulous breeders have been diluting them with manx, persians etc to get diff physical traits, alot die and most 'dilutes' have eplilectic type fits. you need original bloods. kittens come in at 1000 euro, breeding pairs can be into 10,000 euro.poss cheaper in the US, there are only 600-800 in europe controlled mainly by british breeders. they are amazing, i treat them pretty much as i do my dogs, they come when called, play fetch and are totally devoted to their owners unlike the normal sponging couldnt care less domestic breeds lol. my tom meets me at the door everyday and begins calling if im late home from work, he's 19lbs (ave. domestic cat is 7-12lbs) and pure muscle, gorgeous speciman of a cat, looks like a minature cougar and walks like a tiger. they dont meow either, but communicate with chirps and fox-like calls, much like a baby crying
