Uncontacted Tribe in Peru
http://www.uncontactedtribes.org/brazilphotos
Saw this article on BBC news this morning and found a site that has a bit more detail on these people. All imagery was taken from over a kilometer away to minimise contact as these people have virtually had no contact with modern civilisation as we know it today.
They have a garden with lots of fruit and appear to be in superb physical condition. You know, in the West we go on about freedom and all that shit, but these people really are free in my opinion.
There is concern though now, that loggers want to decimate the forest, their part of the world. Brazils government have even tried to state that these sort of tribes dont exist in the Amazon. It's a disgrace if these people are wiped out, simply so we can stick down a field for biofuel or grow crops for fat Westerners. As the article states, they really are some of the last free people left on earth.Last edited by Flagg; 02-04-2011 at 05:13 AM.

Its a disgrace that loggers would force these people out. They have never know modern civilization.
It makes me wonder what those kids were thinking when they saw the helicopter or plane that took that picture.

I always get torrents of abuse thrown at my way when I talk about natives
Anyway, their standard of living is abysmal, would any of you trade your current life to live amongst them?

I'm not going to dig up my Anthropology notes for this, but their standard of living is not abysmal. You'd be surprised. We've been raised with this idea that things are so much better now through our way of life and so often that simply isn't true.

Very well said.
If Tramer had read the article, he'd have seen that the whole tribe looks to be in very high health, no obesity here at all. They are probably much, much hardier than us, i mean they live in the Amazon Jungle and probably have to deal with adverse weather and predators such as Jaguars every day. The only advantages we'd have in the physical and biological sense is disease resistance, and only then, thats only because we have a shit ton of innoculations when we're kids.
Honestly, I sometimes wonder who has the better life. Their life is simple, but so much more free than us and tranquil. They take what they need, and live sustainably, i mean their ancestors have clearly been in this part of the world for thousands of years.
Who gives fvck about XBox 360's.

I think it's horrible that anyone would be displaced just so another group can make money or products. I know it's a common theme throughout the history of mankind, but it just sucks.

I read about these tribes before in this newspaper. Definitely interesting yet very nuts to see this happen in this century.

just thinking, is there a remote possibility that organisations such as greenpeace could be setting this scene up in a plot to protect the rainforests? if it was, fair fvcks to em. just a thought on the flip side

Nice story. I hope we have advanced enough that the loggers leave them alone also. I also agree, what you dont have you wont miss. That's why I stay away from certain things. I have never owned an xbox, sony or nintendo. I dont want to ride a snow mobile because I know I will want one. I have plenty of toys I dont use enough now.
Would I give them up? No, not yet but I plan on giving up quite a few toys in about 10 years to move out of the US and try to enjoy other things in life that are a little more simple but are more important like family. Some toys I will be able to re purchase but some I wont. I think it will be a fair trade off though.
I think the people should be left alone.

just imagine what they were thinking if they saw the loggers using those vehicle logging machines. they must think monsters are ruining things.

uncontacted, but not ignorant of what's outside, nor pristine....
...reminds me of an old B flick called.... "The gods must be crazy"
movie starts out with an old single engine plane flying over the planes of africa with the pilot drinking a bottle of coca cola... he downs his soda and tosses the empty out the window..... where the bottle hits a bushman? in the head, and you see the old boy, holding a spear, rubbing his head where the bottle hit him. He bends down, looking at the bottle, wondering... "what could this possibly be". The rest of the movie revolves around this coca cola bottle (glass)... they decide it is good for mashing grain, and it has great utility in other areas.... soon the tribesmen begin to fight over the bottle.... why surely it must have magical powers? you can see right through this stone! ... i'll stop here so as not to ruin.... very funny movie, and if you have an extra $1 and 90 minutes, you might consider watching it....
