Question For The Gym Rats
Ok so everyday I go to the gym. I'm not a pro bodybuilder, just like staying in shape and having some good definition. But this is besides the point. Everytime I'm there, there is always one or two who after lifting their set of deadweights, they consistently drop them to the floor, rattling the room making everyone look to be sure they aren't hurt. It doesn't matter whether they are lifting from a bench or standing, after that last pump it drops it to the floor. Am I the only one who thinks this is rude and inconsiderate.

Yeah it's really bad if you have solid piece dumbbells. The 120's at my old gym were really bad because of this. One of the sides was loose and would move back and forth a good inch or so. I was always waiting for the day when that thing was gonna finally break loose and crack me in the face. Not a good feeling.

When I work out I don't drop the weights or anything but I do grunt occasionally and pace incredibly fast the whole time... I dunno I just get pumped like no other.

The only time I drop weights is chest press. That's because I go to failure and there is absolutely no way to get them off me otherwise. I drop them as quietly as I can though. If you are lifting to failure there is often no other way to get it off you. For example, two days ago I was front squatting ass to mat with 2 and a quarter and I squat to failure so naturally I get stuck in the down position. Well I had to drop it to my arms and then to the floor but that's just what has to happen. Not trying to show off (nothing to even show off about anyway), but that's how it happens. Some do it to show off. I find though that when you push people to their max they almost always drop the weight when done.
Drop not slam to make noise on purpose though.

I hate when guys drop weights. I personally never drop anything. When i deadlift i control it down. When i dumbell bench i will finish all of my reps and never drop them. Guys will say how the dumbells are too heavy to sit up with but i find that hard to believe when i was just using the 150s the other day and still sat up with them on my own. Like someone else said, nothing pisses me off more than a dumbell that is dangerously shaking around due to being dropped one too many times

Yup, that and it doesn't help that his partner is yelling as if the guy was 500 years away in an attempt to encourage him.
