The problem with WWE is that it has taken a too child friendly approach. Right now its like a show for kids. The thing that made the WWE (WWF at the time) destroy WCW is that it was much more hardcore under the Attitude Era. People want to see that, not a bunch of weirdo shit like today.
The Rock is a big star but for me the guys whose place cannot be taken is Stone Cold. If he came back, I would watch wrestling again but that is not going to happen since he is too old.

wwf didnt destroy wcw in fact wcw had higher ratings and better stars and were bought out just like ecw was
in fact there was a promise from then wwf when buying out wcw that they would in fact take over the contracts of wcw stars
as soon as wcw was bought they fired off 90% of the stars and gave them the big fu
and as far as hardcore goes ddp of wcw was the first to take a huge fall off a cage almost as big as hell in a cell with mankind speaking of him he was a wcw star along with many of the older start still going at it

I think its a desperation move on both the WWE and the Rock. His Disney contract nearly crushed his acting career as he wanted to be the next Arnie but instead became a laughing stock. He's still a great entertainer but made some bad decisions especially when teaming up with Disney.
WWE had to tone down its 'attitude' because of Linda McMahons failed political career. If they would have continued down that road with all the profanity, sex, sexism, jacked up wrestlers, and politically incorrect story lines, she would not have even been able to mount a run. Now they are trying to get it back to where it was, but it's too late. Bringing in older stars doesn't always work. It's a new crop of fans (remember the wrestling demographic is males 18-34), many of these cats don't remember the Rock, let alone Stone Cold or even older wrestlers and with the exception of John Cena, these new stars are jacked enough or talented enough to draw the fans like the old timers.

WWE need this, im a pretty big wrestling fan, although over the last couple years its become hard to care anymore about it!! the Rock has certainly put my interest back into wwe, he took a pop at John Cena which in a way took a pop at the way the company has gone down the child friendly route. I can only imagine how good it would be to get the company back to where it was at when rock and austin were in their prime

yeah agree with the trying to be the new arnie he just lacks the charisma and charm and for some reason you believe arnie can do most of the stuff he does in the films..
But the rock sometimes a little cheesy...

It was just a different time in this country during Arnie, Stallone, Willis, Van Damme, Segal, people were much more pro-gun, politically incorrect, we 'knew' who the enemy was, etc. Now people are much more conscious. Rock is just a few years too late. He has the body and the charisma, but the audience isn't interested in that anymore. Just my .02

I've liked most of the rocks movies. Even his Disney ones. I think it's just the irony of the big guy playing those parts. I guess sort of like arnie in movies like kindergarten cop or the one where he was pregnant.

They were hilarious stupid arnie doing those roles lol yeah i think the time has gone and for some reason stallone and his plastic face think he still has it i watched the expendables in 6 parts it was that painfully crap.

Well the Rock is going to appear in a big role in the new Fast and the Furious sequel. That is bound to get some big money i think. Thats why I am sorta shocked to see him make a return right now.
I still believe that Rock wasn't saying that he will literally stay with the WWE further than Wrestlemania... unless they really are trying to create another Attitude Era and they are paying him shit loads. But it will fail because the common era did such a shitty job in character development that the entertainment will only go as far as Rock is on the scene. lol. They gotta get better story lines and much better personas then now.
