    You'd still go to jail.

Possibly but I think anyone would rather serve time for assault than for murder. Kinda hard to argue that logic.

I also own a silencer for my 45 pistol, which is legal. I just had to get the paper work completed. Owning firearms in this country is a right, not a privilege. It is a right to protect people from criminals and the government.

Yes, but silencers are considered Class 3 weapons and require an NFA tax stamp. There are 3 different ways to get this...too much to go into here, but you can look it up. It is costly.

I heard it depends from state to state. Also Texas is cool cause you can shoot any tresspasers. In comparison, in California it sucks cause you cant shoot him if he's not a threat to you or you family even if he is on your property. Meaning if he robs you and you find him and he starts running, you cant legally shoot the beep out of him to stop him from going away with your belongings.
Correct me if i am wrong. I'm only talking from what i read.

P.S. If you own one, have you ever been in a situation of using it ?
I don't know mate. I guess we have a different perspective. My stuff is just that.... stuff. I can always get new stuff. If he's not threatening me or my family or friends, he can have my shit and I'll go after him through legal channels. Doesn't mean I'll just hand it over voluntarily, he'll have to have a weapon and threaten me with it.

So let's think about this. Fukker rips me off. Takes $1,000 cash, maybe some jewelery, maybe some other shit. I'm going to pull my gun and shoot him? By not doing so, worse case scenerio is Im out the $1,000 and maybe some jewelery. If I shoot the fukker, worst case scenerio is I'll lose my freedom and go to jail. Even if I don't go to jail, I STILL am tied up in the court system, going to trial, whatever.

Now, if he enteres my house, and assumes a threatening posture, all bets are off. I will exercise my 4th amendment rights with a bullet through his brainless head.

AND you can make your own reasonably well, single use only, and use as a throw down, if you are so inclined to do such things.

Ok...so you won't let an intruder take your stuff unless he has a weapon and threatens you with it, but you won't shoot an intruder unless he takes a threatening posture because he's only there to take your stuff. But according to you he can't have your stuff unless he takes that threatening posture. You just went in a circle.

Fact is if someone has balls enough to break into your house while you're there with your family, he's got balls enough to do whatever he needs to do to not go to jail. Are you willing to take the chance that he's a nice guy and will decide not to kill you guys? I'm not. Furthermore, home invasion type scenarios are becoming more common place as times get tougher and people who are desperate become more brazen. When you have several intruders they get a sense of "bravery" that they otherwise wouldn't have, as they are a number of people with a unified goal. Are you going to stop and ask if they mean you harm?

In the past 5 years there have been a few home invasions in my upper-middle class neighborhood. Children were tied up, etc etc...what if one of those intruders decides "Hey guys I feel like getting some young ***** tonight", and wants that little girls ass?

In the glorious state of FL, we don't have to retreat, and no longer have to issue a verbal warning to intruders once they have attempted to forcibly enter the home. Criminal scumbags get no love here.

I know it's cool and peachy to say all this nice and fuzzy stuff about how "I wouldn't do this and this because I might go to jail"...I'd bet all I have that most of you here, when forced to face a situation where there is an intruder in your home, given the option to defend yourself with deadly force, would do exactly that. Think about the state of mind of a person who chooses to enter a home while the family is there, think about why you wouldn't do something like that. You wouldn't do that because you know better and you care about people and your own life as well. The guy who would enter a home while the people were there doesn't care. He obviously doesn't care about the rule of law or your right to whats yours. Are you going to stop and asking him what else he doesn't care about? I don't think so.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two men fatally shot a 21-year-old man during a suspected home-invasion, then shot his 7-month-old son in the head as he was strapped in a car seat outside the home, police said.

It has now been nearly four months since the community exploded with outrage when a Mount Shasta resident was violently assaulted during a home invasion and robbery.

SAN MATEO, Calif. -- San Mateo investigators Wednesday asked for the public's help in identifying three men who forced their way into an elderly woman's home, beat and robbed her.

Those are just a few results returned on Google about home invasions in California in the last 5 years...there's plenty more.

I actually made mine, well kinda of. I found one mad by Gemtech for the gun I had. I then copied their design, drew up how I wanted it made, and had my machinist buddy machine it for me. I then had a gunsmith coat it with a durable ceramic coating in flat black. I looks and work pretty well. As soon as I tested it out, I put it in the safe and haven't used it since. It was a fun project though.

I don't want to have to disclose that I have one though. I guess it wouldn't matter too much since I already own one. I just don't want the cops to be able to say I discharged a firearm in public or something like that.

I probably didn't explain myself very well. I thought the scenerio was he already had my stuff and was running off. At THAT point, his posture would no longer be aggressive since running away implies he has his back to me. Since he is ALREADY running away with my stuff, I'm not going to shoot him (in the back). If he breaks into my house, that is a threatening posture, and he's fair game.

    Maybe that's a better explanation?

It takes it from 155db down to 130db. That doesn't seem like a lot, but decibels are not linear. They are logrithmic if I remember right. I think a reduction of 10db takes it down by half. Check out this video. It is similar to mine.

Decibels are explained at this link:
