Pretty creepy thing to watch. I would rather jump a motorcycle into the grand canyon or crash a Lamborghini into a wall. If I find myself in such rough shape I want to die I'm gonna go out doing something exciting.

My friend and I had this discussion a week ago. A guy put cinder blocks in his leaf pile by his house and a 16 year old kid went through them on his dirt bike , flipped and broke his neck. Now he's in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. I couldnt imagin how his dad didnt kill the guy. They had to move into a smaller house so they could do the work to it to make it wheel chair accessible. I honestly dont think I would want to live, bed sores, no riding my motrcycles, maybe no sex. man fuc no.

He still seemed very functional. I think we should have the right to decide when we die.

I havent' thought all the way through the "right to die" thing with all it's implications. At a general level, a person in terminal agony should have that choice. Government has no business interfering. Not sure a doctor is the proper role for assisting. Assisting is fairly straight forward. Maybe this could be a specialized field for nursing, where a nurse would have to be cerfied to assist, and would have take a crap of ethics classes, a few technical classes (i can here the news now.... "University teaches Death Classes").

And it would be nice to be able to also do it on an outpatient basis.

That is aweful. I don't see why the kid's parent would kill the guy though...his yard that the kid was gonna drive through and mess up a pile of leaves right?

I was thinking the same thing. It was the guy's yard, right? not the kids?

I admit, it is messed up. And not sure why someone would put cinder blocks under a pile of leaves. If I had to guess, I would say maybe the kid was being a nuiscense (sp?) and the guy played a trick on the kid. If this is the case, then yeah, I would be friggin pissed as hell. who cares if the kid was doing a little trespassing? We've all done it right? if the guy was so miffed about it, then why the hell wouldn't he just put up a little picket fence?

I really can't imagine a guy putting cinder blocks under a pile of leaves for any other reason. Can any of you?

No. Not trespassing. B/E maybe. It depends on the facts and circumstances for it to be legal. Generally, there has to be a perceived threat of eminent danger, and the shooting, for it to be righteous, needs to be in "self defense". If a prudent person, in a similar situation, were to believe their life to be in danger, then yes, you can defend yourself, and with deadly force.

When I was studying law (just some basic courses), there was a case we looked at. A bloke left a ladder leaning against the side of his house, in the front yard. Some young kid, not knowing any different, climbs up the ladder, up on the roof, and falls off. Lawsuits ensued. Owner was found negligent. It was argued that the ladder, left the way it was, in a neighborhood full of kids, should have known better. In essence, the jury agreed that the ladder was an invitation to climb and agreed with the prosecution.

So my point is, if the cinderblocks were intentionally concealed beneath the pile of leaves, with an expectation that the kid would return and ride his bike through the leaves, as he had times before, then it could be argued that the owner is guilty of assault.

Obviously, I'm doing a lot of guessing here. But why else would someone conceal cinder blocks under a pile of leaves?

I'm with you. If were that kid I would sit outside his house every morning so when he came outside I would be the first thing he saw. That kid missed put on so much in life because of that asshole.

The only thing i could think of was he had the blocks in the yard and used it as a point to start a pile.

More likely though the kids had probably been scattering his leaves everywhere and he got tired of it. Im guessing he didnt imagine the kid would fly through them on a dirtbike this time around
