    Hernia question

I have a question for those of you who have had a hernia. I have one that starts right behind my belly button and goes up slightly above my belly button. I know I need it fixed soon because its grown allot in the last year and sometimes stings a bit now. One thing I recently got was acid indigestion that is out of control, 24 hours a day for a week now. Its so bad it hurts my ears and gives me headaches. Did you guys get this as a sympton with your hernia?

You have an abdominal hernia and should see a doc. Some people have abdominal hernias for years w/o issues but if its giving you acid reflux its because part of your digestive system is crimped in the hernia causing your food to back up. If it stays in the hernia hole for too long or gets stuck in there, it can get strangulated and die and all kind of nasty things could happen.

I had surgery on an inguinal hernia (painful as hell) a while back and was back in the gym 3 weeks later and really didn't notice it anymore after 4 or 5 weeks. The patch they sew the hole up with is like a window screen and once your soft tissue grows over the stitches and screen, its stronger than any other part of your abdominal wall and virtually impossible to tear back open.
