anyone know dwi laws in texas
wife got a dwi the other night. checking online time it seems there is a min jail time of 72 hours. I never heard of mandatory jail time for a 1st offense. is this correct?

Shitty deal on the dwi, not sure on laws there. Here in Canada there is no mandatory jail unless you commit another crime too.

Should only be 24-36 hours, unless it happened over a weekend. There is no minimum that I know of.

well she was on for about 16 hours when she got arrested and had to wait for the judge to get bail. But like i said looking online it talks about suspending the license and jail time from 72hours to 30 days

Jail time is usually suspended for first timers, unless they have a lot of other infractions. Waiting for the judge is common; she got out pretty quick actually. As for the license, a good lawyer can help her keep it if she needs one.

we made some call to lawyers that were recommended. We are waiting to hear back. She got stopped for speeding 7mph over the limit on the corner by the apartment. She could see home from where they arrested her. She knows this is going to be expensive. She is already talking about getting ride of the mercedes for a cheap car. This was her first ticket ever and 2nd time ever stopped by the cops

72 hours is the min for first time offense.
If you are lucky, you might be able to swing a mandatory DWI education class instead of the license suspension. The fine is a max of 2000.
Good luck.
