    Sauna - shedding water weight

(Wasn't sure of the correct forum to post this question but figured I'd start here since it has a lot of traffic). Do continuous sessions in the sauna actually shed water weight and is there a certain temperature I should be looking for or duration ? How many times a week ? Is the water weight loss permanent or is it more just for pre-contest weigh-in's ?

Yes saunas do shed water weight. It does the same thing as running with full sweats on, garbage bags, etc. The weight loss is permanent until you drink water. so that's a no haha. I had to run in a sauna environment to make weight for wrestling.

Saunas are meant for rest and relaxation. It also helps clear the pores, and can also benefit your lungs to a certain extent.

It's really not intended for weight/water loss.
