Does anyone know about birth control ??
My girlfriend had been on birth control for about 4 years when she went off because she didnt like the weight she held on it...she went off and got down to about 12% bf which was great but she noticed that she had horrible acne which she never had before the birth control pill and doesnt have a family history of. This has really been bothering her and the only explanation I have is the once she gets off her estrogen is extremely low which causes a rise in androgens or high testostrone? kind of like when a guy does off testostrone he has a rise in estrogen...but the diffrence is that most of us go back to normal with proper pct and she after being on birth control for 4 years stoped cold turky!
Does anyone know how we could go about geting her hormone levels back to normal?

It makes me mad because the doctors dont tell people how powerful these hormones are...they act like its no big deal to stick a 17 year old on hormones. At the time she went on her doctor told her they wouldnt cause weight gain or any real side effect at all...what a chump.

I agree. I think its crazy the bad rap AAS gets while most teens nowadays are on the pill. It is synthetic hormones and yes it does have an effect.
My gf personally went on at 18 due to irregular periods, some lasting more than a month. The pill helped but after a while she lost her libido. She came off and her libido came back but her acne broke out bad and the irregular periods came back. She was put on another brand and it took a while for the acne to clear up. Now on this brand she gets more emotional and has bad mood swings.
All of the problems i think come from the fluctuation of the hormones. I feel like the women do not take it as seriously as we do. My gf would miss days all of the time. I had to keep explaining to her what she was doing to her hormones by being inconsistent about taking it. Doctors just put anyone on it. These girls do not understand what they are putting in their body
I do think though it is a great drug if used correctly. Just as AAS is fine when used safely and appropriately.

yes but my girlfriend still has problems with oily skin and acne after a year off! that means it has long term side effect. She has all the signs of high testostrone now which she didnt have before she went on the pill (acne, very high sex drive, oily skin, hair grows back much much faster after shaving).
I think I am going to have her go get blood work done to see how high her test levels really are and how low her estrogen is.
If being on testostrone for long periods of time can lower test levels for life then perhaps birth control can do the same to a womens estrogen since it is basiclly just a pill full of estrogen and progesterone? the doctors should know the risks before giving out powerful hormones.

I'm interested to see how the bloodwork looks. However how many years have passed since she was natural? She might have been like this naturally you just didn't know it because she was on birth control. Also I don't think testosterone would be higher, estrogen would just be lower.

As long as there is big money to be made on prescriptions like birth control and then they have to prescribe other medication to combat the side effects nothing will change. People will be given drugs that have horrible side effects and it's OK but things like Test, HGH and other things that have minimal to no side effects if used properly will remain illegal or given a bad rap.
When you get the blood work done let us know how it turns out. Dont just take the doctors word for the fix, research it. Dont use manufactures websites and such, make sure you read up on forums like this one where there are real people with real life experience. Good luck.

No she didnt have acne at all before she went on...she had zero pimples and she doesnt have a family history of it. I have looked online and many many women have the same problem! alot of them said their blood work came back with high range testosterone which would make sens because if estrogen is low the body compensates by make more test...kinda like how we as men make more estrogen when our test is low.
