Question Wanted to buy synthetic diamond ring.

I was just curious if anyone knows any good websites to buy man made synthetic diamonds. Has anyone purchased these before? Any experience with them. I'm looking for a reputable online retailer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I think he may be referring to the grown or synthetic diamonds. They are better than the good old cubic zirconium. They are considered real diamonds still but around 1/2 price I think. Still to much IMO. Most of the diamond testers that are more than a couple of years old will not detect the difference and I believe the weight is the same. Generally if it's a loose stone there is weight differences between real and fake.

Gem-quality diamonds grown in a lab can be chemically, physically and optically identical to naturally occurring ones, although they can be distinguished by spectroscopy in infrared, ultraviolet, or X-ray wavelengths. The DiamondView tester from De Beers uses UV fluorescence to detect trace impurities of nitrogen, nickel or other metals in HPHT or CVD diamonds

moissanite is where its at, synthetic lab made diamonds, sparkles twice as much. still quite pricey but prob around x2 cheaper than diamond when going up the weights. my fiancee has a 2carat weight ring, i paid around £1800.00, the equivalent diamond weight was £3800.00 iirc, you absolutely cannot tell the diff and as i said they sparkle more and look cleaner.

i actually bought it thinking it was diamond and moissanite was just some form of diamond, only copped on when i saw it on discovery channel one night lol

and my point exactly. I do not believe in "investing" in diamonds.

first, there are huge inventories stockpiled to keep the prices artificially high. there is nothing "rare' about diamonds
second, the lab grown diamonds ARE diamonds, and extremely difficult to distinguish from the naturally occuring variety. therefore, easy to get ripped off

Yeah but the only problem is most jewelers are getting wise and the testers for Mossanites are becoming reasonable so most places have them. One of these days someone is going to tell her it's not a REAL diamond and to a girl it makes all the difference. No such thing as next best thing or $$$ savings.

My mother just gave a 1ct tie tack to my brother that belonged to my father. My idiot brother informed her he had it checked and it was fake. I'm not sure if my father knew or not. He probably did since he was not into jewelry and would rather spend the money on something else. My mother gave it to him as a memorabilia since she will be passing soon due to cancer. He should have kept it to himself in my opinion.

there are a lot of gemstones here in Kabul available for purchase. I'm sure some of them are good investments. And I know some of them are fake. Even buying silver is problematic here. For example, I went into a store on Chicken Street and began looking at some silver spoons. the merchant assured me they were solid silver, and the price was good IF they were solid silver. so i took my Gerber and took a chunk out of the spoon. sure enough, silver plated! So I don't even buy silver here since easy to get ripped off.

Now if I knew what I was doing................

NEXUS ...."Our Revolutionary diamond simulant is born of a new technology that makes it possible to replicate the fire, brilliance, and prestige of a diamond for a fraction of the cost. It's not a diamond. It's not a CZ. It's a new, durable diamond simulant stone that is unlike any other in the world: a patent-pending, lab-made crystal that cannot be told apart from a diamond by anyone -- even your jeweler -- without scientific testing" http://www.diamondnexuslabs.com/revolution.php

I have a bad habbit of loosing my diamond earring studs, and am allergic to all metals save platnum (figures, THE more expensive metal lol) so it was costing me a small fortune to allways relace my earrings ~ till I found this!
They have simual quality as diamonds, will cut galss/not scratch or get foggy ect ..I even have them cleaned at the same jeweler as my engagment ring. THEY ARE PERFECT.

    GOOD LUCK

Just wait until/if you date an Asian. Dont try giving her anything gold from the US. Most of our gold is 14k, 18K and in Asia most of their gold is 21K or higher. They use our 14K for fishing weights. LOL My girl has given me 2 necklaces and a ring, all 21K or more. Yeah it's soft. I already broke the band on the ring and cant find anyone here to fix it. None of them work with anything higher than 18K.

I have the worst luck with it comes to diamonds also. I never buy retail (maybe that's my problem) but like the last one, 1.5K emerald cut very clear, VS1, good color F-G, only a VERY small feather in it and the jeweler I have been using for a long time said it was VERY nice. No didnt get it from him. He was going to make a setting for me. After a short time the feather grew although it had no heat except for cleaning it once. After his son re mounted it the feather grew more until it's clearly visible. I dont think it was treated before, not hidden but I'm not 100% Now I need to have it treated and will re sell it as such to see if I can re-coop some of my $$$

I think the next diamond I buy I will go to Africa. That being said, you have to be careful even doing that. Still lots of fakes and crime obvious. I wish I had some extra cash when I stayed in the international jewelry district of BKK. It wasnt on purpose but I was a block away from 100s of small stores with armed guards, double doors with electronic locks and inside literally tubs of gems similar to the polished rock collections you might see at the mall or hobby stores. It was pretty cool but everyone wanted to see in quantity.

    There are so many varients.

    There are real diamonds

There are lab grown diamonds with are real diamonds that are made by shooting carbon atoms which is what diamonds are made of.

    There are cubics.

There are cuibics that are coated in carbon. So basically they have a diamond coating.

That NEXUS labs are just very high quality cubics. But still cubics.

I think the cubics that are coated in carbon are the best bang for the buck.

Real LAB GROWN ones are usually not bigger then half carat and are still pricey.

Cubics will never last as long as well. No matter the quality.

The cubics that are carbon coated are cheap yet refract light almost identical to real diamonds. They sparkle more. You have more choices in the color and cut. (cubics arent the best for cutting some diff types cut they dont have as sharp of lines)

As with everything there are many FORMS of LAB GROWN.

Which allows different capabilities in terms of size.

    There are...

    CVD process (chemical vapor deposition)
HPHT process (high pressure and high temperature)
    Detonation synthesis
    Treating graphite with high-power ultrasound

So your girls is of a different process.

its a Mossanite mate, still quite pricey but cheaper than 'specialist' diamonds, whatever specialist really means. it actually has greater clarity than finished mined diamonds

I still want to go to Africa and find me a nice large blood diamond. I want a good story behind it how x# of people died while mining this stone or killed why trying to sell it with other thus marking it as a blood diamond.

Got my wife's from sparkles forever. 3 carat cubic. The band was shit but just get it set in a nice band and you're done. The ring was $60.00. The real thing is over 30k. Screw that nonsense.

Glad I saw this thread. I just asked my GF if she would get upset if I bought her lab grown moissanite diamonds as opposed to natural diamonds and she said "Of course not"...win.

nexus labs sell CZ's, Lab grown diamonds that share the same properties as diamonds are yellow in colour. Man has yet to "grow" white diamonds. Pink and blue will be the next colours available. I think they may already have the pink ones. Gemesis is the company that make "real" man made diamonds.

thx for all the replies guys. But Im really only looking for the labgrown diamonds else I'll just buy the mined diamond. This is all I could find so far. Seems gem quality diamonds are way more rare then mined diamonds.
Its to bad cause I think there could be a real market for these. Oh and keep the info coming.

Looking through the link you provided they are 2x the price of natural diamonds and 1/2 the quality. Really way over priced and junk. Look at the color, K??? L???? $500 for 1/3 carat?
