How much is too much for drinking?

I drink about once a week, probably about 6 beers. But it is every week. Is this too much?

See if you can go two weeks without a drink. If you can then in my opinion you do not have a problem. I drink on my days off, a bottle of wine or less. I don't get sh!t faced, just buzzed then go to bed.

No way I disagree. I know more than a few people who have 2-3 beers/glasses of wine a night and are not alcoholics by any means. They wake up early, go to bed early, raise their families, live wonderful lives, and alcohol never has much influence on anything.
Then there are people who have one beer and 5 mins later are shooting heroin. Those are the ones that need to go to meetings imo.
The key thing to look at is whether or not it has negatively changed any aspects of your life. If it has, then you are overdoing it.

Haven't had a drop since may, drank once, then hadn't had a drop since Jan.

Mate, drinking is only a problem if it is controlling you, or impacts your family/finances/health.

If you want a beer, then man up and have a beer. But when it turns into a monkey on your back, then...

if you don't take care of this problem, we here at the board have decided an intervention would be appropriate. =)

Do they have a course I can take via online/virtual? I can send in random pee samples if they want.
I know those 4-5 beers a year (or less) are ruining me. It's such a bad temptation I have a Corona in the refrigerator that is 6 years old. LOL

Right because the sip of beer forces some people to just start shooting heroin. Asinine statement.

I think you guys need to cut this guy some slack. I mean, c'mon. How many times have you been at the liquor store, picking up some Heineken beer, and right next to the Heineken is the Heroin, and so you think to yourself.... ah, what the hell?

Please don't speak to me. You're an idiot and I'm yet to read one comment from you that isn't offensive in one way or another. Obvious that you have serious anger problems.

Whats ASININE is the fact that you wrote the word "forces" not me, then tried to play it off like it was something I said lmao. I just said some people will have a beer, and it leads to other much worse things, and that is the essence of what a drug addict is. Is it really that difficult for your young undeveloped 22 year old brain to understand?

If so, go to an NA meeting and you'll see these types of people everywhere. I thought you were trying to be a cop, you should really know stuff like this.
Although it really doesn't surprise me that you don't.

heheheh...seriously ??? I hope you are being funny... The guy says he drinks six beers a week!! heheheh..I get it, if you want to live alcohol free that is a lifestyle choice, but AA for six beers a week?? I think he would get laughed at...
To the OP if you feel you are out of control and your life is spiraling away from you then by all means get help.. but IMO someone that eats fast food several times a week is doing way more damage to their body than six frikkin beers a week...

I think most of us on this forum need to realize that drinking here and there isn't going to kill you or essentially, have any effect on your gains. I remember my Sophomore and Junior year of college I think I drank a total of two times, because it was drilled into my head that drinking would screw up my whole physique. Unless you are a competitor or a fitness model, drinking here and there or even getting pretty wasted once in a while is no big deal and will not have much of a negative impact on your physique. If you're "on", I don't think you should be drinking much at all. Otherwise, party on, you only live once.

I posted this more about weight training gains than me needing AA. If I went to AA and told them that I drank 6 beers a week, Bob Saggot would stand up and ask if I ever blew anyone for beer. In case anyone is wondering, I have not.

My absolute greatest weakness is beer..I rarely drink to get drunk, maybe a couple times a year. But i LOVE beer, I love the way it tastes, there is no right time or wrong time for a beer to me. With that being said I carry around at least 10lbs of fat that is a direct result of my love for the nectar of the gods. Does it hinder my ability to train? NO..Does it add unwanted fat YES.. Action=consequence

to much is when you drink every night and pass out from having to much. A few beers a week aint going to kill you. Now if it was 6 a night then yes i would get in AA. If all you can think about is drinking then you have a problem. If you can stop and start whenever you are fine. I know all this cause i was in aa for awhile do to life issues and drinking every night
