Everyone has their opinions on apple/mac/MS and what is considered important to people. I'm guessing it all depends on how it effects your life personally. Due to recent personal experience as sad as it is it's also somewhat relieving to know that someone with his resources and money could not beat cancer so there is probably not much more I/we could have done for my mother who passed away last week due to cancer also.
I am not an Apple/Mac fan but I can see he contributed in many ways in technology and financially as has Bill Gates with his fortune. It's their money and they can choose what to do with it and where it goes. They have done more to help people, poverty, education than the government has ever done.
Although I didnt know him I still with him RIP and hope his legacy will live on for a long time. The Apple/Mac and PC have changed our lives forever. Even if he did not directly create all of it or as some believe none of it but only built on the technology or took credit for it it's still his vision that got things rolling and put together. There are a lot of geniuses out there and great inventions we will never know about because they dont know how to market or advertise. The CEO's who bring these things together for us are just as important as the creating or we would have never heard of them in the first place. IMO
Hopefully we will have more creative innovations soon that are as life changing as the PC/Mac/Apple.
RIP Mr. Jobs
