My best bro is deploying in feb. He's been dating this girl for 6 months. Im a bit older and wiser and can see from 100 miles away shes not going to wait around for him while hes gone. I really wish he would can her before he leaves- who needs to deal with break up bull shit with everything else that goes with being a marine in combat.

This story has been around for many wars, and I assume will continue to be told. Its also part of the DOD's suicide prevention classes taught to soldiers.

Had a fiance in 04-06 when I was deployed to OIF, found out 3 months before I went home she was 3 months pregnant. I cancelled he access to my bank account, had the locks changed on my home, and stopped her car payments which resulted in her car being repoed (wasnt in my name). All in all I felt satisfied. Learned its better to go to war (especially if your a combat soldier) single.
