ps3 station ?

so I cant find the answear to a few questions that popped up tonight concerning a shaddy teen...need some help.

can the messaging part of the PS3 be blocked or barred with a code?
also
we are in downtown and get several free wireless services..from library, downtown resturants etc...is there a way to let a kid play vidios on the station but block all internet possibility?

any info or links to sites with info are much appreciated

The new 4.0 firmware allows us to block random friend add requests and messages from anyone that isn't on our friend list. The setting is under account management on the XMB new Privacy Settings tab.

The PS3™ system includes parental control settings that restrict the playing of content with parental control restrictions (such as game or video content) or the use of the Internet. You can adjust these settings so that content intended for mature audiences cannot be viewed by children.

Although the restriction method and the setting method may vary depending on the type of content, all such content is restricted by one password. * A password is required when adjusting parental control settings or when using content with parental control restrictions.

One option you have is the “Internet Browser Start Control” which will lock down the Internet browser so that a password is needed before it will launch.

* On the PS3 main menu scroll to “Settings”
* Go down to “Security Settings” and press the “X” button on the PS3 controller
* Go down to “Internet Browser Start Control”
* Now enter a four digit password

I don't think you can control the messaging part but I'm pretty sure you can control the content viewed within the browser..

You can definetly lock up the Internet on them so they cant get on
