Obviously, I care. Figured u would've known that since I posted the question. I'll respect ur opinion, but try to respect others'.

Wasn't going to make this a thread about whether u like manson or not, but since u gave ur opinion, I'll give mine. Imo, he is one of the greatest 'artists' to have ever dared to step outside the box of conformity and challenge the brain-washed minds of those who are too afraid or stupid to think for themselves.

Haha, I thought this was going to be a "what cycle does MM use"

That said, im not sure but it's just reminded me that Soundgarden have reformed and are doing their world tour now. I think they are in Australia at the moment. Think Noles supplied you with a link to help you out.

I've got your back on this one. I still enjoy listening to MM. I work in branding, so I always find it interesting to watch highly-manufactured celebrities (good and bad). I don't love him as much as you do...but I like the music and love the cult of personality.

Some of his songs are really good. I was listening to Lunchbox today on my way home.

That said he isn't a creative genius he's just another artist selling his product to an intended audience. In this case the bulk of his target audience is young, white people who are disillusioned about life - most common reasons being they weren't popular in school, didn't participate in extracurricular activities, didn't have a good home life with two parents, don't believe in any religion, essentially the non conformists and isolationists the shy kids the people who had a parent or brother or whatever OD the people with f up childhoods the people who felt invisible in school or at home etc etc

After a while you learn to take music at face value. It sounds good so you rock out to it. Sometimes you should but sometimes you shouldn't try to read into it too hard imo. Bands like Tool or Chevelle to pick on some more bands, all they are in angry scrawny white kid music. I was that angry scrawny white kid who hung out with other angry scrawny white kids so I know what Im talking about. The lyrics and the nostalgia behind the band and the meanings behind the lyrics they are mostly just garbage intended to suck you in and make you think you are part of something. F all that.

When I pop in a lot of the cds I used to listen to I think to myself this is some depressing ****in shit. People I know who still listen to such bands religiously, they have to do drugs to deal with life and think everyone and the man is trying to keep them down. Nothing could be further from the truth. We all have a choice of what we make of this life.

I liked the first three MM albums with portrait being my favourite. I got in to him when I was an angst teen (like most of his fans), but I never was that hardcore in to Manson.

What always got me was how serious his real big fans believed in his gimmick. To them, everything he said and did (along with his music) was all real. Truth was, it was just a gimmick Manson did in order to sell albums and tickets to shows. He basically was the Alice Cooper of his time.
