First Time Winers afraid to pin....
Just had my HA knee injections yesterday. (Both knees) The needle goes one inch underneath the knee cap, penetrating the bursa. But due to recent knee surgery and all the scar tissue, she had to move the needle around trying to find the right spot, and one that wasn't too painful. Since this is a three shot series, i go back again in a week, and then the week thereafter.
Now this is a shot that should raise an eyebrow or two. There is some pain. No doubt.
I just don't get some that come here only willing to consider orals since the idea of pinning into a little muscle tissue makes them weak in the knees?

What can I say TR, you are one tough old man Need to teach these young chaps a thing or two.
That being said, I'm an animal in the gym and rip apart my muscles 5x a week. I wanna be HUGE n ripped but I'm scared of a pin prick. Can I do a Dbol only cycle? I have a perfect diet and Jay Cutler actually borrowed his workout routine from me.

Ouch. Do you watch it or look away?
-

Of course i watch it... duh! =) (why wouuldn't I??)
This is the third year. but this time, due to all the scar tissue from recent surgery, she was moving the needle around in there, digging. I'm like what are you doing? she said she needs to move it around to find a spot that don't hurt so bad. but i'm like... yeah, but it also hurts when you move it around! So i just told her to leave it there and to dump her load.
For those of you that have never went through this procedure, it is a curious sensation. The bursa swells from 2ml of gel injected. This causes the distance between the two bones to increase. Then you finally stand up and put weight on it, and although not really pain, it feels strange, and at first, i am very ginger about bending my knee due to all the pressure in there.

Aside from my smartass comment that does sound very painful. Sticking a needle 1" in to muscle is nothin, sticking a needle in to your knee sounds like a whole nother ballgame.. I'd have to look away

it's underneath the knee cap, and between the upper and lower leg bones. Im' sitting down, with leg hanging over the side of the exam table, with the weight of the lower leg pulling down, opening up the gap between the bones. She approaches the knee from the side, and slides the needle in that way.
it doesn't actually go "IN" a bone
(besides, she's kinda cute, trying to be so gentle.....)

Had some thing similar done to my shoulder. Came in from the back side I swear the needle was 1/4 inch from coming out the front. Bursa as well. Thank god for that numbing spray. Yours is by far worse.

In the knee. Wow TR. Badass. I get nerve block shots in my groin, not much difference from a AAS shot really.

for me, these "annual" injections are usually good for 10 months. And YES, they do work.
huh?
numbing spray?
what numbing spray?
she never offered any numbing spray?
I was told that the shoulders need to be done with the aid of a live Xray? is that right? did they use an Xray on you to guide the needle to the right spot?

Been there , done that, getting old sucks. I would rather deal with the injections than the alternative.....knee pain can be debilitating. I agree TR, too many whiners, a little jab in the ass cheek is a pleasure compared to a lot of things in life.

X marks the spot, huh? My girl told me she would have to use a live Xray to guide the process since it is intricate and hard to get to. So he sank it into your bursa and dropped his load. 3 shot series or just the one? and did it provide the relief you were looking for?
Based on the viscosity of the fluid, (similar to KY Jelly), i imagine it would have to be about an 8ga.
That sounds like an open invitation for DSM.....................

Did you watch via screen/monitor? I think that's one reason pinning never bothered me. when i was 12 or 13 my left knee was killing me. Well, the doc put die in my knee to see if it was arthritis and i watched the needle and die go in from screen/monitor.
Hope the knee's ok, TR.

3 shot series.. Good for 2 weeks after each. 3 months of 2 a weeks to the chiropractor and I am pain free and the range of motion is 90% as opposed to 40% before. Shoulder adjustments are a painful sum bitch. Before the first one he looked at me and said "what ever you do don't hit me" I thought what the hell. Then he poped it. He's the only thing I didn't hit. It hurt. You know the pain that makes you nauseous? Still the knee is bone and cartridge no meat.

I had to get nerve block shots into my pinky when I cut all the flesh off it by accidentally putting my hand through a window (Yes, it was 100% an accident). 3 shots to the knuckle of my pinky while she wiggled that needle around in there I could hear/feel the popping as she punctured the nerve. That was one hell of a sensation >.>

.
we used to play this dumb game when we were kids. we would play darts in the garage in the normal course, but your opponent had the opportunity of trying to snatch your flying dart out the air as it wizzed towards the board. if he caught it, then that particular dart became forfeit. if he missed, you got to shoot again, but only if his hand interfered with the flight of the dart.
Well, I almost caught it one time. when you knew your opponent was going to try and catch your dart, the shooter would throw it just a little bit harder, like a fast ball, to avoid the catch. Anyways, i almost caught it, but instead, the tip buried itself into my small finger. I tried shaking the dart off, and it wouldn't come out. I had to put my hand on the work bench and stabilize my finger, and yanking hard, and then the dart finally came out.
The surprising thing is that it didn't hurt too much.
Weird, huh?

The first stitches I can remember as a child came from a rock fight, took about 4 stitches to put my head back together the way it was supposed to be. The good ol days, nowadays I suppose their would be lawsuits and prison time for such a barbaric act.

TA, how long did it take for your knees to feel better? I just had my second HA shot today. They drained my knee first and luckily used the same needle to drain and inject. I have not noticed anything yet. I have a chondral lesion they tell me will require surgery and they are trying to get me bye for awhile.

Nice try! But oral "meds" such as vicodan don't do anything.
Then there is MSM which can only take you so far.
There is also oral HA, expensive, and only works marginally better than MSM, but you can stack it with MSM for a better effect.
There is also iCortisone, which I don't believe in, and wont take.
Well, we were supposed to have "rules". You know, no cement rocks or other hard stone, only dirt clods, and grass pulled ouut by the roots with that dirt ball still attached was cool. So we'd work around the rules some. For example, we'd get mud and make little balls abouut the size of eggs. then them dry and they became quite hard. and since technically it wasn't a hard "stone".....
over the years, as we began to grow and get older, our fights became more elaborate. during the 4th of july, we'd allow bottle rockets so we'd have these pvc guns that could aim and was surprisingly accurate. then by our early teenage years, we started using BB Guns, so that meant some protective clothing (usually, for me, a denim jacket and a hat with a brim i could use as a shield by looking down when fired upon and the brim would protect the head area. sunglasses too sometimes.). Anyways, the wars started to peter out when we found other interesting things to do, like girls....
yes. three seperate injections spaced one week apart for each knee.
well, i've been controlling the pain with MSM in large part. and since you are supposed to baby your knees for first two or three days, it's kinda hard to tell precisely. But usually by the second injection, shortly after that, i begin to notice some relief. But the majority of my relief does come after the third shot
Oh, Like I'm Tim Robbins doing a motivational about pinning?
