Anyone lost a finger?
I was at the gym today racking the 80's and about chopped my left index finger off, now its swelled up and I was thinking how shitty it would be to have lost it or broke it. I could lose my left and right ring finger and possibly a middle but a thumb or index finger, that would suck.

Lose a thumb or index and you can draw partial disability for life. The pay goes up if it's your dominant hand.

The gym is a dangerous place! I've nearly mutilated my bell-end with the DBs tapping at the bottom of a lat raise.
And I've given myself a black eye hitting myself in the face doing hammer curls!

I've only done it once with I think a 60 and that was bad enough. Wouldn't have happened if the gym didn't insist on putting the db rack and mirror right in front of the classroom. Just glanced in the mirror a little too long and wasn't paying attention to my hands.

That's the problem with society today. In a business you constantly have to worry about being sued by some a-hole.

Got in a fight with a table saw in grade 9, lost the tip of my ring finger and bits of four other fingers on both hands. Most painful thing I've ever felt in my life.

Not at all, just the tip was lost, no biggy. Who needs a ring finger anyways, the right index and middle are ok so I'm still happy, so is my old lady.

These shootouts are just going to make it harder to buy guns. These nutcases need to quit giving the commie left more ammo.
But yeah, it's the American way to sue. Don't piss me off, I've got Lionel Hutz on speed dial. And Razor, WTF is wrong with that lawyer? He looks like he's got Parkinson's.
But yeah, you know on the pec deck machine, I regularly smash my ring finger when my arms come together.

Last week at the club, some piece of shit ghetto/thug scumbag swung a vodka bottle at me. I blocked it with my right hand, which ended up cutting a quarter inch of it off and I had no feeling in my finger for almost 10 days. I ended up knocking his tooth out and smashing his face off of the door on the way out. He pressed charges for assault and a hate crime because he was black. What a fvcking joke. My boss fired me because he said that I used excessive force. What the fvck else was I supposed to do when a drunk guy comes at you with a weapon? Fvck that place...on to the next one.

the pain is worse than it looks. I really fcked up this time my whole right arm keeps going numb..I don't know why and my finger is throbbing. I tried heating a needle and piercing the nail to relieve he pressure but it won't pierce the surface. Thinking of going to the hospital have them do it.
Anyone tried the hot needle trick and how did you get it to work?

try a manual drill. its a little extreme but it may beable to peirce the nail better.

The bruise under your nail (sub ungal haematoma) can sometimes cause increase in pressure in the pulp of your finger. Worst case, this pressure can damage the nailbed, and nerve and blood vessels to your fingertip. Telltale sign is worsening numbness instead of just pain.
You're right to use the needle if you know what you're doing. I would use a new 23g needle, without the barrel of cos, holding it gently with your good hand, apply just a bit of pressure, and twist it half a turn back and forth repeatedly. Looks scary but if done right you wont hurt yourself cos the nail is already lifted off the nailbed by the bruise. Stop when you see a drop of blood oozing out. Repeat till you got 4-5 holes on the nail and you'll be fine.
Or just go to the ER..lol

Lets see, almost lost both of my thumbs. Left thumb lost the entire tip and nail, doctor who fixed it up said I wouldn't have a thumb nail, well It grew back but the thumb is shorter than the other one. My other thumb was caught between a sharp metal object and a metal bar that as another piece rotated clamped the thumb in between, it was right on the joint and went part way through, but luckily not quite enough pressure for a clean cut. My dad lost a finger as a kid, and his father kept it in a jar all his life, my dad got it eventually but then it disappeared, was his middle finger.
I would hate to lose a thumb, I could live without a finger. but my bigger fear is losing a limb, really scares me, because I value all my limbs pretty heavily.
