Prices would also be lower if they used the same needles for days at a time.

One of my trips to Philippines was paid for because of the Dentist. Same as you around $2000 for root-canal and crown, after insurance. I bought a round trip ticket to Philippines ($950) and had it done for $200 from a dentist who trained in the US. Leaves me $800 for hotel and play money. Hotel is about $30 a night so that leaves a lot of playing.
When I do get work done at home I refuse to pay for white fillings and tell them to just do silver. They do the white for free. I also tell them now to pull any tooth that needs a root canal or bridge and they seem to find a way to fix it without a root canal or bridge.

Simple accident, spent 30 minutes with oral surgeon, cost me 3500. No insurance at the time. Called and told them it was too much, and asked if they could lower it, knocked 33% off of it. But since I felt like I was ripped a new asshole for something I could have done myself basically, I pay them 25 bucks a month, offered to pay the whole thing off if they further discounted it but was declined, so I said ok I will keep paying what I'm paying.
Paid for some other expensive stuff for wife without insurance, sad thing is I had insurance a week or so after but it was an emergency.
and if you think that is bad, look at basic male hormone blood work, can get it for like 250 bucks and includes more than what this local place I went to charged me over 800 for, thing is I expected it to be covered entirely, but they billed it wrong to my insurance, and my wife had stuff done at same time, and since they didn't perform what they were supposed to do inurance didn't cover it and they couldn't resend it.
