    Rest Days

If you are very close to your goal should you start slowing down in regards to training i.e take an extra day off or would that disadvantage me and my gains ?

    Any opinions/experiences ?

There is a popular saying, "you grow at home, not the gym". In other words, it's rest that allows the body to recover and rebuild (stronger) from the stress and damaged caused by lifting/training.

If you're close to your goal I wouldn't necessarily change your routine, however, over training is certainly something to avoid and if an extra day of rest allows you to hit it a bit harder when you return to the gym, that extra day would be beneficial, not harmful.

You don't have to take a day off, although like Ink said it could certainly be beneficial. However, you can just adjust your routine so that your workouts are at "maintenance" levels, rather than intense. I train differently when cutting of bulking. With cutting, I just do maintenance lifting.

So basically just sticking to the same routine, same weights in which you don't push yourself and same nutrition until you want to achieve more ?

Well I don't know how you train. But for me.. When I'm growing, I use heavy weights that would put me at failure around 5 or 6 reps. When cutting, I just maintain lean muscle by lifting lighter, but higher reps, but I never go to failure when cutting.

You could keep the same routine and weights, and just do less sets. If you do 3 sets normally, just do 2 and don't go to failure. Don't forget the kitchen tho That's mainly what will determine your gains/losses. I'm not a fan of changing complete routines. If you're hitting every muscle group, you want to continue to do that.

Listen to your body. If you feel good maybe push harder, if you feel worn down rest and eat accordingly. Sometimes we don't listen to ourselves very well which can often result in injury.

As stated, listening to your body is important. I like to adjust my routines to where it allows me to stay in the gym 6-7 days a week. The gym is a big part of my day and it feels weird if I don't go. So far I've been able to keep making changes as long as I stick with my diet!
