    Cool New York.

Where is the best place to stay in New York. Going to take the wife for a few day getaway. Im not looking for the cheapest place but not going to spend high roller money either. I will pay the extra to stay close to everything. Just not a grand a night.lol.. Any suggestions?? And please dont turn this into a " New York Sucks thread" If you feel the need, just ask for my wifes email and you can tell her all about it, I dont care.lol

Ah, ok I can't really give you a good reference I've never really stayed out there just went for a night and made it home in the morning.

My best advice would be to look for something away from everything but close to the subway so you can get I wherever you want to go with no problem. I would assume the closer you got to time square and all that, the more expensive it would be. I would probably look for something downtown near a stop that'll run where ever your points of interest are

let me suggest taking your wife here to eat. Its one of our favorites and i recommended it to another member here when they went to visit and they loved it.

Soho is nice area.. lots of restaurants.. shopping.. its close by to little Italy and china town. really cool just to walk around and lots of stuff to see. Also you cant go wrong staying around times square.. down town.. Also if you like sushi, like mentioned above go to Tao restaurant.. the place is great.. and down stairs from the restaurant there is a bar/club with dance/electronic music. really good vibes if you are into that!

Pricey is ok if its something you dont do all the time. The wife has wanted to go since i met her. Im not as excited but am looking forward to checking things out. Wife is all about walking down back alleys to buy fake purses and crap. Lol. Should be a good time. I guess she wants to stay in Time Square.

That's more canal street downtown/Chinatown. You'll find some street vendors around Times Square but that's where the real shady dealings go down. Just be safe man, I know a few people that got robbed looking for the deals and such. You'll be good as long as you keep your guard up and don't talk to crack heads

I've stayed at the Waldorf and always like it. Very nice place and close to everything your wife wants to see. You can early get a room for $600-$700 a night. A little less if you pick the right days. A little pricey but worth every penny IMO and really helps with the whole experience for a fun trip. I've also stayed at the Embassy Suites across from the word trade center site a few times and the Hilton in Brooklyn...seems like both were around $200-$300 per night. Anyway, my vote is always for the Waldorf if the money is there.
