Found out i'm getting deployed mid December
Title says it. Its not 100 percent but it still sucks. From how they explained its pretty much definite that i'm going. My wife was pretty upset but sure understands. Just wanted to say it somewhere I guess.

Quite honestly I'm envious! If you enlist it should be your goal to fight IMO! Otherwise it's like 4 years of football practice and never getting to play in a game! Congrats!

I feel for you and your family bro.
But yeah like Lunk said, i would give my left nut (and my right, take em both!) to go serve for my country. And im not just saying that. Believe me, if you knew me, you'd know im telling the truth.
Thanks you for your service, and i wish you all the best out there if you're deployed.

Intel analyst sounds like best of both worlds. You're there to participate in the action but don't have to worry about catching a bullet? Anyway thanks for doing what you do.

Uhmm no offence but why whould you enlist for the army and say it sucks when you get deployed? Thats the hole reasoning behind unrestricted service. The government needs to get there worth out of you somehow. Be proud bro i was pumped on my first deployment. I was in the army for 4 years was awsome i loved being deployed i dont no whats its like in america but in aus deployments pay big dollars.
It blows my mind i always thought of america as a big shoot em up kind of country that loves the strong tuff warrior. But seeing this show of surport for non combat role blows my mind. In aus you have to be infantry to get respected.
Stay safe and Enjoy your infantry surport role my friend.Last edited by Euroholic; 11-20-2012 at 08:40 PM.

I was married during my enlistment in the Corps during the first Gulf War and honestly, while very difficult to be away from loved ones including your wife. It made us much stronger than those who have never experienced the hardship of military deployment! You will both be stronger for the experience.
You guys these days have it so nice as you have the ability to communicate regularly through emails, phone calls and skype. We had letters lol. I would not put any stress on if you will patrol, you won't...not in your position. It's not worth it to lose a support member in a position like yours. Thank you for your sacrifice!
@Euroholic...the Op is clearly stating he will miss his family but is proud to serve. Surely you can understand that position.

Good luck out there. And Dude for your own good, make sure you don't leave the wife with access to all of your money and/or credit cards. You have heard the stories of other guys by now who find out halfway through their deployment that their wife spent every dime they had, maxed out their credit cards and/or cheated on them. Setup automatic bill pays if you need to. Sounds like paranoia, but those stories are no joke.

I found it offensive too. He never once complained about serving. His complaint is leaving his wifes side for so long, which is completely understood. The comments weren't necessary, he's a soldier and still a human. Let the man vent euro.
OP- respect! Appreciate all you do. Goodluck

Im sorry if i offended anyone maybe this is a clash of cultures and the one eyed view of a rifleman but we were always taught that you have infantry and everone else that surports the infantry. And those who served no how much things get drilled into you that you believe them to be gospel.
I wont post anymore if i Think it may offend.

No you should feel free to post I kind of regret being internet police on you. I've said dumb shit myself plenty of times I remember one time after a UFC fight I came in here saying what a fat pile of crap one of the fighters was and it turned out his training partner comes on these forums. I felt pretty dumb so whatever its the internet. Lets forget and move on. I think sometimes with the internet we all have a tendency to just throw out whatever we are thinking instead of weighing all the pros and cons.

Ok my turn to chime in. Armykid I too wish you the best. My only hope is that they one, give you the weapons and the ammo necessary to get the job done the first time around. second to not bind your arms behind your back with rules of engagement that keep you from getting the job done. I hate these stupid wars where they send you over to fight then tell you what you cannot do by putting so many restrictions on how to engage the enemy that it put you and your entire platoon in jeopardy all the time you are there. This to me is complete BS and those who write the restrictions on how to engage should have their asses over there on the front lines. Ok now go get em soldier and CYA...(Cover Your Ass)
PS And MickeyKnox will not be donating one of his testicles, because if he did it would make him half nuts.....And we don't want that...Last edited by Shol'va; 11-20-2012 at 10:40 PM.

ArmyKid. I don't think some are able to comprehend the hardship of being away from family, loved ones, friends, home oh.......all the while being a target.
I thank you for your service and you keep yourself safe.
