Is it bright blood or dark? Bright red blood is bleeding in the lower part of the intestine/rectum. Although there is still cause for concern bright red blood is better than dark. If its dark red there could be something more serious going on.

Could be internal hemorrhoids or just caused from straining. If you are going 4 times a day it could be something more serious like Ulcerative Colitis/Proctitis or IBS. Either way you want to get it checked out.

bright red = dont worry so much IMO cuz the blood is coming from somewhere close to the hole
dark red = worry more cuz its up in there.
have had this happen before too..
under both circumstances if the condition persists seek medical help BUT if bright red id give it a day or 2 itll prob go away (like u said it already stopped)

Even if its a little dark 90% of the time its still nothing to worry about, internal hemoroids and as said bright red is common.
Its more common than not with weight lifters. You ciuld add some powder laxitive or stool softner to you diet
I highly recommend you do not get hemoroids removed unless they become inconvenient or painful. The pain most people have after the surgery is unbelievable.
Most of the time they come and go. You can use preparation H

Usually after heavy lifting I dump blood from hemorrhoids or fissures. Try eating more fiber too or get some Dulcolax to soften the stool just in case that is ripping you up on the way out as well. I have a nasty pic to post of my last battle but I'll spare you guys!!

Some good advice in this thread. Goode80 I have had blood when I poop many times most recently a few days ago I believe it was a hemmroid I didn't see anything but it was bright red. What DSM said was pretty spot on if its dark blood and you have other symptoms of something wrong then it could be serious. I had an episode that lasted several months a while back I had intestinal problems I would fart for 10-15 seconds at a time several times a day and sometimes would have blood in my stool for days on end. Im not sure what it was as I only go to the doctor if I'm dying (I know, not smart). I had thought it could be related to accutane usage but I am back on a low dose and no intestinal issues right now. I dont remember what my alcohol consumption was then but that can play havoc with the intestines. I did some research on my own when I got scared and as some people said you can strain when you take a dump and a small tear can form inside you say in the rectum wall and this is what I ended up attributing my blood too back then.

Sorry guys took so long to get back. I phone app has been giving me so many issues today. Anyways, thanks for all the replies. Gone 4 times and not another site of blood. And on replies, I hardly have to strain when going so fiber isn't an issue there. And never had an internal hemroid so not sure. I am sure I do not have external. Usually hurt like a bitch, not sure about internal. I'm going to monitor it and next time I see it, I will be right at the docs office.

Yes tell your doctor everything.. I tell my doc everything shes always like you shouldn't take steroids blah blah. But if your going to i want to give you blood tests and ecg's etc to make sure your ok.
In australia they have to give you medical treatment no matter what. There was a drug addict lady who got a liver transplant than about 2 years later she was still pumping drugs that she needed another liver transplant both at the cost to tax payer. Free medical treatment is good but in cases like this bad.

I guess you didn't really understand what we were telling you. It's not going to be a 1x or only 1 day deal. This can and probably will go on every day for a week if not longer but it's nothing to worry about. Welcome to life.
If you want them to stop use the Preparation H, sit in a warm bath to promote healing.
Let us know what the doc says.

I would be 100% honest with my doctor in everything you take. He is there to troubleshoot whats going on and he needs to know everything to do this correctly. Was it the same as before? Blood on only the first movement but others were fine? How much blood we talking? Just enough to turn the water pink or is the water pretty much all red?

No need to be sorry. Its a shocking/embarrassing issue that you really don't want to discuss with family and friends which makes the internet a perfect place. Let us know how it goes.

Good advice, i have been told by many also.
ahah our public health system is a joke, the waiting list is appalling. Than again we have the best health system in the world, the love of being an aussie! Drugies like this need rehabilitated before the problem even arose for a transplant, obviously it was to late, and at our expense the tax payer she sees another light of day. Living in oblivion as to why she is still alive, and keep using day in day out makes me sick.
