Personally I think dumbbells with the exception of PL competition is a much better judge of how strong someone is. There are very few guys who can put up the 100's or bigger.

I hit 315 over the summer for first time in my life at age 34. Started getting on a flat kick and my shoulders started hurting so I went back to dumbells
Yet there are a bunch of guys in there 20's hitting it all the time in my gym and dont look like they are on juice. In fact it seems younger guys are much stronger then I remember being in my early 20's

I prefer the DB's due to shoulder problems. My personally best is the 100s 6 times slight incline. And 255 flat bench 3 times. No juice. 30 years old. Worst part about it my chest looks like a 12 year olds. Hate it!

War something that helped me before my shoulder started acting up.
I would do 225 lbs 20 times. Trying to do it in the fewest sets I could. Starting out the first time it took 6 sets.
I down to 3 sets then 2 sets. It helped my strength a lot. That being said I've never done 405. 355 lbs is my PB.

Nice to know I have a cheerleader.... I always took you as the water boy.
I just train different than most. I'm more about full body fitness than "bulking" or whatever. I can make these guys that bench 405lbs cry with 50 lbs. and give them routines that show muscle weakness......
