I have no problem with this...
Vancouver PD punches cyclist after running a red light. When Im in Van, I see this all the time, people throwing themselves into the street cause they feel they deserve their turn before others are done with whats rightfully their turn.
You can see this guy was clearly trying to keep from being cuffed...

Im sick of hearing "police officers should be held to higher standards according to their position."... No one should have to take the abuse that a civilian places upon officers because they know all they have to do is resist and then any aggression in return is a lawsuit.

I never have a problem with a little extra force being used or even a good sucker punch when someone is being a douche or resisting. Its only when its clearly over the top and uncalled for.
I love stories about bicyclist getting what they deserve. We have to many here who feel none of the laws apply to them although they think they should be able to block traffic, ride in the road even when there are bike lanes available.
I'm sure I have made almore than a few fear for their life back when I drove a one ton with a dump bed doing sheetrock. I loved the extended mirrors. LoL

If I were that cop, I would be embarrassed for punching like a girly man! I definitely don't have a problem with a little extra force being used if needed. I don't think it was necessary there but I bet the cyclist will think twice next time lol.

No problem with a little extra force if warranted.
But I firmly believe blokes with guns and badges absolutely MUST be held to a higher standard than the average joe citizen. Badges and guns are a dangerous mix, and you don't want a cop going rouge jjust cause he's having a "bad day". His bad day could easily turn into YOUR funeral. Remember, he's got the gun and the badge. Cops need to exhibit high amounts of restraint, instead of the "raging bull" rushing in to try and control a situation. Which is why I sincerely believe women make great cops, as they have abilities of defusing a situation besides blowing a blokes head off.

You clearly see the guy pull his arm away while they are putting the cuffs on him. He could be going for a weapon. That is resistance. Only problem I see is the cop needs to work on his left. Lack of power IMO.

the part that bugs me is that the LA (CA) cops took alot of heat with Rodney King, and he was clearly in an altered state (aka "on drugs"), and he was clearly resisting arrest. But we still had the LA riots as a result.

I am totally against extraforce! Only the amount neccessary to effect the arrest...thats it. If you cant control emotions in the heat of battle...go sell insursance

This is another reason why I dont always agree that "excessive force" exists. If you dont do something to instigate a reaction, how can one over react and use "excessive force"... there could have been "no force" applied
