    Little faith in mankind...

Couple shitty stories come up today, so Im sorry to add another one in sort of a rant form, but here is what I just experienced...

So early afternoon today, I am making some deliveries for work and one of the places I go frequently is a 4 floor medical building. Always one of the two elevators broken cause the landlord is a cheap as fvcker. Always bugs me a bit waiting for an elevator, but more so cause being a medical building, a lot of elderly people use this facility as well

Today, both the elevators are not working, guess I'll take the stairs (my fat ass needs it)... but my first thought was to the dozen + people sitting there waiting for it to open the door so they can get in.

I climb the 4 flights, deliver to the office and head back down the stairs... to my appallment, there are several seniors trying to climb the steps. So one by one, I help the most disabled to their respected floors, all the while the "able-bodies" and either still waiting on the main floor or pushing their way past these seniors in the stairwells.

When I help the seniors in the stairwell, I walk back down to head to my vehicle and there are a couple more less able seniors trying to figure out how to get to their appointments on the 2nd and 3rd floors. So I carry one older gentleman up (maybe 120lb max) to the 2nd floor and come down to walk up another gentleman who has a walker. Guide him up and then go back down for his walker and there are these younger people pushing his walker around making jokes. (kept calm, you all would have been proud), brought the walker to the gentleman and let him on his way and then helped stabilize an older woman who had to hold the rail and one-step it down. Whatever, its another couple minutes to a half hour venture, and here are a bunch of bitchy girls swearing as they come down the stairs and get frustrated we are holding them up so they push past and one of them almost sent this woman down the stairs (I actually had to reach under her arm and pull her back into me as she fell forward)

When I get back on the main floor, theres still some younger folks waiting on the fvcken elevator to open... how stupid can mankind get and still not go extinct!!!

Im not even going into anymore detail, but seriously... at what point is there so little hope in humanity if people have even forgotten how to respect the elderly?

PS- Im not saying Im some kind of righteous angel, chances are I was getting mad at these same seniors for getting in my way when Im driving around all day

Thats a horrible story. I feel awful for the old people trying to get to their appointments.
Good for you to help them.

I think most have become too self absorbed to think about others. There are still a few respectable people in the world, but they are becoming a dying breed this day and time.

This takes me back several years, here I was a young "punk rocker", 2ft pink Mohawk on my head, tattoos, face pierced all over, doc martens, and the tightest jeans I could get on. I took the time to hold a door open for an elderly couple that were around 100ft back from me. This led to a near 20 minute conversation on how rare it was for some one to do that, to which I promptly let them know that despite my looks I was raised to have manners, and respect for others.

Now today I have passed that on to my daughter. She is now 16 months old, and in her tiny vocabulary she already knows to say thank you.

The populous may be declining, but I feel I've done my part to sustain some decency as a human being.

Ive lost all hope for mankind a long time ago. Im with George Carlin on this one. We're Spiraling The Drain, as they say in the medical field. We're doomed, we really are, and i agree that's its a miracle we are still here.

Did you know that we are the ONLY species that kills each other for personal gain? Its true. How sad is that. I could go on and on with fact after fact, but why bring down the house and put a damper on this incredible story of humanitarianism at its finest.

Kudos to you KP for being selfless at a time when the elderly needed you most.

Sounds familiar. In the 80 I had long hair and dressed like a typical heavy metal rocker with leather, spandex, spikes and chains but I/we were never rude and always polite to elderly people and held doors for people.

The prepies of the day were just the opposite and rude. It was very confusing to some of the older people. LoL

KP, we need to hang out!

That is mighty kind of you to do that, your mute mom raised you well!

I feel the same way about the younger generation (I'm 31), they are getting more useless by the minute.

Everyone wants shvt handed to them nowadays, they don't want to work for it!

I don't know how you didn't yell at someone!

If I'm ever up in that cold ass place you call home, drinks on me!

I think that's the issue still today. It's the people you least expect that are nice and courteous, and the ones that would seem to be respectful are too self absorbed to notice any one but themselves.
