    Lower back cramps/spasms???

here lately i have started doing drop sets on all my lifts. well when i do squats it seems once i get to my final drop set (3rd) my back starts tightening up down at the bottom similar to that which u feel when u do a lot of hyperextensions.

today the same thing happened except this time when i went to do my second drop set i was unable to do it as my back seemed to not want to "let go" as in it felt like the muscle was contracting down there like squeezing and wouldnt let go.. i basically could not do squats for the last set and had to settle for the rest of my leg exercises.

here i am back at work (a good 25 mins later) and it is still a little tight down there. ive never had any back trouble in my adult life (did have some kind of pull down there as a kid but im sure it was muscular and it was in the same area as what im experiencing now).. this is never a problem even with heavy squats and it doesnt tighten up until my lightest set (3rd drop set)..

anyone else get this? seems similar to what i would think a "back pump" would feel like maybe?? im not on AAS BTW

I get it occasionally on legs day. It's the Romanian deadlifts that do it for me. Try stretching it off if you can.

Sometimes it lasts 24 hours for me.

On a serious note: This sorta thing happened to my levator scapulae a few weeks ago. It just kinda locked up on me and when it started to relax it started twitching and locked back up again. I had some muscle relaxers lying around the house so I took em (I know I know-I'm not supposed to) and it seemed to fix the problem.

If you don't already..you should consider getting routine deep tissue massages. Nothing like it to get the muscles to loosen up!

I would just stretch and then warm up(break a sweat) on the eliptical or treadmill for 15 min. Also taurine helps and it works.
