    Motocross

Well it is now sorta spring here in Alberta and I moved the CR 250 to the front of the garage. Just wondering if anyone else rides 2 stroke. This is my summer cardio every year. Im lucky enough that i can leave my garage to the hills. An hour every evening is a great workout. I ride hard so my heart rate doesnt drip.

That's about a 5 minute fix. Get the AV levers. Yeah a little spendy but they are nice. If your not a member join up on the YFZ central forum. They have sales/discounts on AV levers sometimes.

My wife's is a 2009 YFZ 450R so it's the extra wide one and FI.

I got burned out on motorcycles thanks to my dad LONG time ago. I saved up for a dirt bike for over 2 years picking blue berries and selling them. I had the money saved up for a good used CR or RM 125 when I was 13 and started shopping.

My dad came home from work one day with a 1960 Suzuki 120 he got from some guy at work for $300 I said HELL NO. That's not a dirt bike and it weight like 500 lbs. He sort of forced me to take and and yes used my money I saved up. Biggest POS I ever saw. Rebuilt the motor I dont know how many times. Shocks were frozen. Pushed it home countless times from miles away up the power line roads until I left it there hoping someone would steal it but he made me go get it.

After that 4 wheelers came out in the 1980s and I was hooked. Never looked back.

Lol. Well your dad probably knew better than to let you get a 2 stroke 125 as your first bike. I bet you still had some fun on that old thing though. Those were my best riding years. Bunch of kids showing up in the yard on bikes and we were gone for the day. Knew how to get to every gas station without being on the road too much and always had a quart of 2stroke oil stuck in my handle bars. We had alot of fun.

Wana bet? I could not even keep up with the Honda 90s because mine weighed 3x as much and kept breaking down. My best friend had a CR 125 so I would have had someone to ride with. My dad was never very good being up with the times especially when it came to kids.

Unfortunately I have over compensated and spoiled my kids as you can see with my stop daughter riding the Honda Ex. My older daughter started on a Suzuki LT 80, Raptor 250 then Raptor 350 before sort of getting out of it. Now she wants a 700 like mine but it's up to her to buy it at this point, she's 19.

Been riding all winter. We just built a few nice jumps at one of my friends tracks, going to head out in an hour or so hopefully. I ride right out of my house also, I have the nastiest trail from my house. Very technical =, whoops, hard turns and grade changes, kicks everyones ass that comes with me. hardiest work out by far. We ride for 6-8 hrs, mostly at night. 4 wheels and 4 stroke though, tired of bikes blowing up and doing piston and rings. Was cool when I was a kid, now hit a button and the FI starts right up .

Haha that is where I am at also. I use to work/upgrade everything I have and still do to an extent but typically internal engine wise and like you I want to push a button and go, not spend time rebuilding or working on it.

The 4 strokes now have more maintenance than a 2 stroke. I would rather change a piston out every few rides than change the oil and set the valves every time i turn around. They both have there positive and negatives for sure. I tried going 4 stroke but i missed 2 strokes

Not sure what you are riding but I only ever had to set the valves 1x on one of my 3 raptor 700s due to aftermarket cams and I only do oil change (Amsoil and wix filters) 1x a year unleass I'm riding a lot. Other than that I change plugs 1x a year also and that's it.

I dont know too much about those funny looking things with 4 wheels. Lol. Im talking race bikes. I changed over to a crf 450 for a couple of years in 2005. 4 stroke race bikes are terrible. Unless you are changing over to a trail bike, stay 2 stroke.

Yeah when it comes to racing there is nothing like a 2 stroke. All my older PWC were 2 stroke. The 4 stokes cant touch them out of the hole but due to environmentalist they are all 4 stoke now. Oh well, I'm more into the long haul now days and not hole shot so it doesnt matter much.

I have done my share of rebuilding 2 stoke in the day. Yeah easy to pull a head and change rings/pistons and you are g2g with some new reads. The engine in my 2003 Honda Aquatrax PWC is nothing less than a 4 stroke fuel injected car engine. I bought it with a cracked head and fix it myself but the damn thing was nothing like they use to be. here is a picture or it torn apart.
