Am I The Only One?
Who was freaked out by the martial law put in place when the cops were hunting for the Boston Bomber kid? That was nuts! It looked like a war zone.

Man I understand, fact is you have to respect ppl from Iraq or Afghanistan who live with this crap everyday. They don't close their business or anything. I'm ex military, have friends in sog, IRS crazy and going to get crazier. Grab your weapons and survival gear cause when it happens you better be prepared!!!

Get use to it. I think it was just a practice run to get people use to being shut down when police/government wants them to be. Starts out innocently enough but I would be VERY worried if it starts becoming something not uncommon.

Agreed...
My thoughts were, u mean to tell me we can find high level members of organizations that have every asset at their disposal. These people have the ability to assume new identities and basically disappear from the face of the planet.
...but they couldn't find a 19year old hiding in a boat?
Also, their father has to b the best actor known to man kind. I couldn't understand what he was saying besides the dubover, but his demeanor was pure shock. I've seen parents of people that have committed violent crimes being interviewed before, and he acted different. The prior have been upset and shocked at what they did, but most of the time they mention or insinuate some sort of issue that the person had, that u can tell they are downplaying. I hadn't heard this father say anything negative about the two boys. He kept talking about everything good in their life.
I'm not saying they didn't do it, they very well may have and I'm all for a fair an unbiased trial (which he won't get, but...), there was just certain things that didn't sit well with me on this. It was most definitely a sad day, and the perpetrator should most definitely be publicly tortured, tho its quite possible that "person" doesn't exist.

There really is no other way to get things done... some times you just have to suspend basic freedoms in order to protect the people. These guys needed to be caught and quickly.

I may be hated for saying this but I don't believe shutting down a town is the way to go. Set a parameter station men where ever necessary road blocks yes. But telling the free people of America that they can't go to work can't go outside is simply too much. They were saying that we're not going to let this event change us but it did when they shut down whole towns. It's not the people who made the choice it was made for them. I understand safety was an issue but as stated above parts of the world live with constant threats of this nature. And they get up and keep moving.

I dont think it was uncalled for at all considering what had happened days before and that morninig....these guys were armed with guns and bombs/explosives and more than likely lookin for more targets....public safety IMO outways certain freedoms or inconveniences that happened because of this
....like KP said they had to be caught quickly....that being said I think its ironic that he was caught only after the curfew was lifted

What freedoms were suspended? They "requested" that people stay home. The closed mass transit to keep the options for him limited. People complied. They requested entry to houses, didn't force themselves. There were a number of people who were out or driving around; they were neither detained, arrested, or otherwise.
Considering the kids usage of bombs, his apparent bombs in the vehicle, his willingness to shoot and kill in cold blood (officer at MIT), and the weapons he had on him (explosive vest), it's prudent to tell people to stay at home.
They do the same damn thing when a tornado or hurricane is coming; cops will come by on loudspeakers and tell them to stay indoors. Schools are locked down when a nearby crime is committed.
The sheer number of officers were needed to create what they deemed to be a good sized perimeter, and secure it. Not to mention, at the time they didn't know if there were more than just the two brothers in a "cell" or not.
And it wasn't until later when they found his apartment rigged to blow (they had to make a tactical entry), and they found another bomb in Boston proper when they expanded the stay in place rule to include all of Boston.
I have no real problems with how this was handled, and apparently neither did Boston or the surrounding areas.

We allow the government to do what it wants. Eventually the government will take away our rights saying, “It’s for your own safety” and people will allow it. When do we tell the government, “No you can’t do that we won’t allow it.” If we continue allowing them to take our rights away eventually the fear of, “BIG BROTHER” will be a reality.

The mixed outspoken reactions to this artcle is why its not really a worry. While the government is taking more power in times of crisis its not really a bad thing, we want the a**hole murderes found and we dont want any more innocents hurt. The truth is if they actully tried to inpinge on our real freedoms for any extended period of time it would be near impossible to maintain. The American people are the most out spoken, unruley, and well armed population in the world. In other countries they couldnt oppose martial law if they wanted to, in america we litteraly have hundreds of millions of guns owned by the american public. The second amendment protects your right. Its your constitutional right to own a gun and its the people that use that right that prevent other rights from being stepped on in a big way. So relax until they invent the red blinky forgetness flasher in men in black, because then we are fu*ked, just mho tho.

I wish I was told not to go to work.
