GB-I'm in the process of trying to fall asleep so I'll comment on this later on. Plus something about this thread is doing weird things to my cursor. I just wanted to comment on Dream Theatre. Although I can't stand to listen to them....they're probably one of the most talented technical bands in music history.

Agreed 100%. No doubt about it. I can't stand to listen to them either, because they're constantly wanking and showing off. But that definitely doesn't discount their (immense) talent.
Personally, I prefer groove and feeling over technical prowess... if I can get both (like Soen!!), I'm in heaven.

rap and rap-influenced hip hop has ruined music. I don't know how this shit got popular. It really should have stayed in the slums of detroit TBH.
That being said, country all the way for me! Rock is also a solid genre.

Music once you sign to a label is monitored and you basically say and do what the label say they create your music and image most musicians and artist before signing to record labels are completely different then when signed because of that reason they are puppets and just do what there told for $$$$

Scott Stapp of Creed is clearly TRYING to sound like Eddie Vedder. IMO, there's a big difference.
Nobody can mimmick Vedder's voice. It almost sends chills down your spine. His solo stuff is great as well.

When I was in LA, walking down Sunset blvd. there was a bar with a hand-written sign "Duran Duran - $10 cover".
Pretty sad...~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

Not a fan personally, but I know a complete rip-off when I hear one (Stapp ripping Vedder [badly btw])
x2 Pure garbage, trying to capitalize on a sound that was already done.
Nice bro! I remember listening to their first album 'Music' and thinking 'yea, this is different... very nice'!
You should check out Shootyz Groove, similar sound/style (pretty sure they toured together). Originated in NYC.

I think Vedder's voice has always sounded generic to me. There are very few remarkable voices in rock IMO... in terms of grunge, Chris Cornell is tops (good god that guy can leap an octave and not bat an eye) and I like Perry Farrell's nasal/whiny sound.
In terms of neo-ska, I saw Fishbone and the Bosstones play together once around 1993 or so. Incredible show.Last edited by ZenFitness; 04-29-2013 at 01:11 PM.
