My Golds Gym closed down.... The Movie
Golds Gym in Indianapolis, Indiana closed recently & really upset me. I have been a member for years of this Gym and recently was told that it was time for me to re-new. So I re-newed on a 2 year contract & pre-payed my membership in cash. I had also paid for & kept a locker at the gym. 3 days after taking my cash this gym closed down without any warning whatsoever. When I called Golds Gym I was told that the things in my locker were given to Goodwill & that I would need to write a letter to get my dues back minus any cancellation fee's. I used to love this gym & am shocked that they would do that. I understand that things happen but don't take peoples money & then close 3 days later!

I agree that Golds Gym billing procedure is very poor and outdated. Heck you have to fill out a piece of paper with your Credit Card number for re-billing. However, I've seen at least 5 or 6 locations close and/or relocate, but I have never experienced a "No Notice Vacating". So this is pretty shocking to hear.
I'd just be persistent with getting a refund. If you get a refund, who cares, time to move on. Honestly, you've flooded internet forums with this same post. I understand you're upset, but all this internet ranting will have zero impact on Golds Gym.
I think you can utilize this energy more effectively. Good luck and sorry to hear about your gym.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

The golds gym near me closed down recently, which was a shame, it had the best equipment and space I've seen in a gym. It was a bit far though, the guy is opening another one soon, and closer. Which I'm pleased about!
I'm sorry to hear that though OP, that isn't a golds gym issue though, they're a franchise, you need to find the owner of that particular 'branch' to really get any result. I'm sure that you must have some legal standpoint to get reimbursed and some compensation. That is deliberate deceit, theft even.Last edited by krugerr; 07-18-2013 at 02:58 PM.

Definitely contact the corporate office and explain and request a refund. That's very strange that it was so sudden and without customer communication. Golds is still a big corporate entity and they should be able to make it right.
They JUST bought the gym chain around my city and are going through the transition now.
Good luck.

wow that some BS, I'd be mad as hell BUT I've never been a big fan of Gold's because the two near me were kinda crappy and always dirty.

Either get a lawyer or get over it. Most of the time it's not worth perusing as it will cost you more money/time than what is owed to you.

The Golds near me in Vegas is great except for one MAJOR problem:
It's only 10 bucks a month.
Once you pay their $100 'fee' -and sometimes they run a sale and there is NO fee--it's only 10 dollars a month.
10 measly dollars brings the crowd. EVERY DAY....ALL DAY.
