Repost of a week ago. Ive seen several instances of the "Back arch" I dont get it? Im by far far not a big lifter or very knowledgable in the gym but arent you supposed to keep flat? You can hurt something right?

I don't get it. She doesn't have her back down on the bench and she doesn't lower the bar to any break position. I don't respect the lift.
NO GOOD in my book, but people like it. ...crazy mike

Back arched way too much and grip way apart, she only brings the bar down 6 or so inches. Strong for a kid but doesn't impress me

The arch is the difference between a bodybuilding bench and a power lifting bench. It's done to give a little more leverage, and shorten the distance between the bar and the chest, just like the wide grip. . I believe in competition as long as the shoulder blades and glutes are in contact with the bench it's a legal lift.

She's obviously using some sort of learned leverage technique. She positions her body in that ridiculous stance every time. Still impressive I guess for a 13yo girl who looks normal in every way. I'd never guess she could do this by looking at her.

This^^^^ I was taught by my strength coach back in the day the same way, not quite as much of an arch but same way. You put your feet way up under you for better leverage.

You could have had an arch like that had you been a 13 year old girl
