Ask your carrier about a refurbished phone.

OK, wont go craigslist, my friend just got scammed $2700 on a house rental. Some guy showed him some peoples house, told him they were leaving in a month. When he went back to look at it the people were their and told him they owned it and wasnt moving. He actually walked around the place with the guy lol.
Looked on Amazon, getting very confused. I went to my At+t he didnt mention anything about a refurbished, will have to look into that. Whats a dynaTac ??

Look on Ebay and use Paypal but make sure you pay as "pay for goods purchased" so that they can refund your money if there is a dispute of any kind.
I take it your AT$T??

I bought a couple used/refurbished phones off eBay. Been a few years ago now but was pleased with each of them.

House and cell phone are two different things lol. Its unlikely that someone is going to risk it over $100-200 item.
Meet with the seller, insert your Sim card, check functionality and you're g2g.
Very simple, I've done it many times. Never been scammed, never allowed myself to get scammed .

I would reconsider and give craigslist a try but if you do beware of a few things.
1) ALWAYS, ALWAYS I mean ALWAYS meet in a PUBLIC Location with lots of people around!! I've been held at knifepoint before by some moron I met through CL because I made the mistake of meeting some place he wanted to meet. He didn't get jack out of me but that's not the point. You call the location. Good places are inside of mcdonalds, grocerry stores, walmart, banks, any place with lots of people around.
2) Check functionality of phone such as if the wifi picks up signal, volume, brightness, vibration, basic stuff.
3) If you intend on purchasing a phone from sprint or verizon, ask for the ESN number of the phone and that way you can check if it has a clean esn or not. If it's not clean you won't be able to put service on it. If it's att you don't have to worry about that being an issue.

I've bought a phone off eBay, and it worked out well. It was a large seller and they were quite good.
