2005.5 2.5 VW Jetta. Want to replace the door speakers front/back. It appears to be a 10 speaker system based on the door grills. 3 in the front and 2 in the back. Looks like the front consists of a tweeter, mid and small sub?

There seems to be a small amp mounted under the driver seat.

Best way to go about upgrading the factory indoor speakers????????

Check out factory fit options. Have you taken the door cards off to sctually check there is speakers in all the gaps as VW are murder for making it look like they have more speakers than really are there

Just check, then measure the speakers as VW like most german car manufacturers use weird size speakers.

Try the brands listed here for speakers of good quality replacements

I was able to see the speakers in the door with a flashlight. They are all there. 10 speakers total.

Very good, you may need to add ajl audio cleansweep to the standard hu, to make it accept powering amps and the like.

What do you want from the stereo? You'd be amazed if you play with the settings like bass, treble and the standard EQ can make them sound decent nothing crazy good but not bad either

Not planning to add an amp...just replacing a blown speaker and the rest of the crappy speakers with some upgraded ones.

I cant find a definitive answer on what sizes are in the doors. Some say 6 1/2, 4 and tweeter. Some say 8,4 and tweeter.

The best is to measure yourself sometimes, they fit standard speakers into these weird moulded plastic holders that bolt to the door but they can come off normally and thus frees up loadsa space to fit normal speakers that aren't a stupid size or weird shape.

And the best way to mount the new speakers is with a ring made from 3/4 mdf and try and bolt it to the with a nut, washer on one and a self locking nut on the other really steadies the whole assembley and makes it sound better too
