You think your city sucks? Watch Detropia.

    Holy moly.

Just watched this on Netflix. I don't even know how some people are still living in Detroit. What a mess. I'm sure the documentary only focused on the worst of the worst, but such a bankrupt city, there's just no light in sight. Pretty sad to see what once was a booming city, crumble slowly.

Did you see the show John Stossel did on Detroit? It's insane. The people clamor and complain about the corruption that's destroyed them and continually put the same people back in control.

There was one good thing they talked about in the show. There are a group of investors that want to buy Belle Isle from the city, and the ideas they have could actually pump some life back into the city, but the city is fighting it tooth and nail to their own detriment it seems. But if they can pull this off it would at least give them some hope. Otherwise it's hopeless it seems. They also discussed the price of property in Detroit right now. You could buy a lot for the price of a cheap used car. Might be a risky investment but if the city ever does rejuvenate it would be a pretty sweet deal if you owned some of the land.

So I sat through all 86 minutes and I have to say Detroit is depressing. Seems no one wants to clean it up.

There is no money to rebuild or upkeep at home when we are busy giving it to everyone else around the world.

All I can say is why the fvck would they remake a masterpiece like Robocop? If they wanted to remake one of those movies, redo Robocop 3, it sucked.

That's what happens when you think you can live at the expense of everybody else. They elected socialists and drove away their tax base. That's what happens.

Detroit is going to be the reality for most cities in America in the coming years. Their practices are not too different from what other cities were doing. Cities are going broke quick and businesses are leaving.

It's easy to blame the unions and city welfare programs for this, and maybe there is some truth to it. But the bottom-line is people need to make enough from their work to live and the union's demands on the employers (as in the video with the Local 22's fight with American Axel) aren't that outrageous. You can't live and raise your family on the wages they were telling the workers to agree to pay cuts to. And even if they agreed to that, it was just a matter of time before the company would still leave.

What needs to happen is America needs to change it's foreign trade policies. Otherwise more companies will leave and more cities will face the same fate.

The corruption may have been excessive in Detroit, but that same stuff happens in just about every other city. It's just they ran out of suckers to keep funding it.

3 was horrible. Robot, mechanical ninjas that start flying around and fighting each other? Come on.....

But yes - the original is probably top 3 80s actions of all time (Commando, Bloodsport take the cake).

By that rationale l would say Detroit/Delta City should be a wakeup call for other cities in the United state's.
