Guys who shave their heads.
Ok I been shaving my head with a razor (not electric) for a few weeks now and I enjoy it. The only thing I don't enjoy is buying refills. I use the fusion 5 blade galette razor and those refills are expensive. With shaving my head and face I am burning through a blade a week which adds us fast. I have tried two other brands but they irritate my skin. You guys have had any luck with other brands or maybe use a method that helps?

at home I use the fusion blades. expensive i agree but after dabbling with many many brands over the last 15 years I find it to be worth the while. I used Bic, Schlick, Nacette... you name it...
at the barbers (when I feel like total far niente) he uses a traditional razor (the one thats like a switch knife)...
Also mind you, the gel used is important. use the Gillette fusion gel. Trick is simple: use warm water to wet your scalp...if you have the time, wrap a towel dipped in warm water for a couple of minutes then apply foam. let it soak in for a couple of more minutes then shave ...when i am out of blades and have to use another brand, i find this helps reduce irritations afterwards.
with fusion 5 proglide and shaving every other day i need a blade a week so a pack of 4 lasts me almost a month.

Unfortunately, entry into middle age (although I think I got a couple years still) caused me to have to shave what's left of my hair off too. I've tried literally everything. The Fusion with Power razor so far works the best on me. The Quattro isn't soo bad, but I get a fair amount of razor burn with even that. I think you can get a deal on blades at Costco or Sam's Club.
Did Gillette mail you the free Fusion razor too?

A question to guys who save their heads can you shave the back by yourself? See I have no clue as to what this would be like since I have a full head of hair.
Also are their guys that shave their heads when the have a full head of hair? I've never asked anyone until now. ...crazy mike

I do the dollar shave club, but get the six dollar a month package. Nice handle and they send you a new cartridge of razors each month like clockwork.

I've been considering purchasing a Merkur saftey razor. One of my buddies says the shave is great and the blades are inexpensive.

For about a year I was using a set of clippers to shave my head down to a 0. I got bored thought, its much easier to wet shave it all. Ive tried the cheapo razors, and they always give me a rash or cut me. Using the fusion blades I get no problems. I try and make them last as long as possible, so I'll use them even after they get a little blunt.
In the UK they're around £20 for a pack of 4. Thats just horrendous!!

i shave and feel the skin if there is any hair left...so basically i keep shaving it in all directions till the skins as smooth as possible...so basically against the grain, with the grain all goes until there is ntohing left.
tried having the wife help...her gasps and her watch outs made sure it was the last time
i am told electric shavers (the ones wheels that spin) with help as well but have never used them...once you get the hang of it its seamless... takes me around 7 min for a clean shave and if i havent shaved in a while (say during a long vacation) it takes me up to 10 min...but thats about it.

I have an Andis T-Outliner that I use to get it down pretty close. Then shave with a Gillette Mach 3. Blades last me for weeks.

I am totally hooked on this method. I now have 3 safety Razors, all 3 Merkur. I started with the long handled 180 model and its an excellent starter safety razor. A good shave soap and safety razor shave is the closest shave you can get in my opinion and in the long run you save a ton of cash. I never thought this would be the case over the multi blade modern razors but it definitely is. Best move I ever made and I actually enjoy the shaving experience. Ive been toying with the idea of starting a blog talking about the different razors and soaps i use etc. It become almost a hobby of mine if you will. So much so that Im sure im no longer saving money over the disposable cartridge razors, Im probaby spending the same, but as I said I enjoy the experience and the results are astounding.

When I was shaving my head, I switched to the head blade. You can get it off amazon, the blades I used were just regular refills for I think a Gillette. Easiest way to shave your head. You do have to get used to it but once you do you can shave your head in about 90 seconds.
