What's your most prized possession?
A girl I know asked me this question the other day, and it truly perplexed me. I suppose that the knee-jerk reaction is something along the lines of my car, or my apartment. But really, I think that it's a little deeper than that.
I would have to say that my most prized possession is my CD collection. I have about 500 CD's (not burned CD's), and I've been accumulating them for over 10 years. I have a lot of imports and rarities, and I feel like I have a very comprehensive collection that is fairly representative of many genres of music and is very high quality, i.e. I have never been suckered into buying "one-hit wonders."
Anyway, I'm curious to see what y'all think!

My house, my 72 goat, shit everything I own is a prized possession to me. I came from nothing and I mean nothing, worked my balls off to get where I am today and now I can buy and enjoy things for myself.

Thats easy for me. My luck charm which is carried with me everywhere I go, and the note that accompanies it.
It's my Mothers first AA coin she got when she quit drinking and the letter she wrote me on step 9. She was right in the middle of writing her thesis for her PHD in English(while teaching 65 hours a week), my brother was side-swiped and in a coma barely hanging on, and I was a drug addicted dumb shit teenager causing more problems than I was solving, but she managed to stick to the commitment and has'nt sipped since.

This question is too broad and complex, and could mean different things. Do you mean physical/mental, etc... Do all objects count, family? That's why it's tuff to answer
I guess family would be the most "prized" but then that's not really a possession, neither is children. So I dunno. Memories is a good one, but would that even count

Seeing how I do not actually posses (from a literal view) wife, children and friends, I’d have to say I do not have one prized possession. I own stuff but that’s all it is, stuff.
Strut, what say you quantify the question like; if you woke up tomorrow morning and everything you owned was gone, and I mean everything, and you are allowed to keep only one item and one item only, what would it be? And to further restrict things you can only choose things you own right now and automatically rule out family and loved ones because we’d all pick those over material objects.
Pheedo, yours by far would smoke most responses. Wish my dad had given me one of those. And if you carry that around in your pocket then you do have at least one good memory, a damn good one.

Well my kid is not a possession so I can't really claim him (though I would not hesitate one nonesecond to kill, maim or jump in front of a speeding train for him).
Material possessions? Well, I like all my toys... I worked hard for everything I have (and I don't really have that much).
Is there anything I couldn't live without? No not really. I could dump all my material possessions in 10 minutes and not look back. Might miss some toys like this net access, but I could live w/o it.
I've been a hardcore backpacker since my early teens, I can be off into the wild alone for 2 weeks, and on the last day I won't want to come back to "civilisation".
I guess that makes me a bit of an anachronism

well, since my girlfriend left, I'd have to say it's my left hand... of course, that would also have to include my penis, they're a great team!
"Hello Mr. Penis, wanna play a little 5 on 1?" "Sure Mr. Hand, as long as you brought our good friend KY jelly!"

This isn't the answer that y'all probably want to hear, but when the question was initially posed to me, it was phrased in those exact ambiguous terms. So, I think that's what makes the question so difficult. What exactly is it referring to? I think it's up to the reader to interpret for themselves.
Having said that, though, when I read that, I interpret it along the lines of "if there were a fire and only one thing I own could survive, what would I want it to be?" To me, wife and kids aren't possessions (not that I have them anyway), and my car (even though it's freakin' awesome) is replaceable, so my most prized possession is my CD collection, because there are so many of them, and so many of them are rare, and it would be very difficult to replace my collection.
I hope that clears things up a bit!

CD collection? What was I thinking?
Nah, the doc struck first with a pic, so I just had to post this one. Who has pictures of their CD collection?
And yeah, that's me walking behind it.
