    do you believe

in fate or destiny? As a logical person I tend to think anything "supernatural" either doesn't exist or is simply what we default to when we can't explain something.

But sometimes it really feels like the universe is pushing you in a different direction than you're trying to go. Like everything will go wrong that could and its trying to stop you from going that way.

What do you guys think? do you think there is a path the universe has for us? What role do you play? do you have any say at all?

I believe that we all control our own destiny but I do think there are many things or "powers" in the universe that we do not understand or are aware of. When a person sits back and looks at the earth, universe or even religion we are a pretty small particle in the big picture.

Thoughts become things we attract everything in our life good and bad. Feel good and be happy that is the key to manifesting anything you desire.

Interesting existential question. Years ago, minoring in philosophy as an undergrad in university, this was one of many discussions we had in and out of class. The whole idea of determinism often lead to debates with religious undertones (e.g. If god exists AND is an all knowing being as often characterized, then god knows every choice before we make it and hence our path/destiny is predetermined even if unknown to us - for if it was unknown to an omniscient being, then said being could not be omniscient and could not be god according to the criteria that god is n omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent being).

I don't know that I believe in fate per se (and I certainly would NOT call myself religious by any stretch of the imagination) but I'm inclined to believe in karma, if the two can be mutually exclusive. Maybe it's superstitious but the idea of "what goes around, comes around", seems believable to me. Is that fate? If karma is simply a principal of causality where intent and actions of one, influence the future of THAT individual, is that fate?

I don't really know to be honest, but the idea of life being predetermined for each of us would be defeating in my mind. To think that my choices are in fact not made of my own volition and are in fact not choices at all but actions set in motion following a grand design is a little disappointing and underachieving for my liking.

If Karma is real, she owes me HUGE...

When I was 3 I had a dream that I was in a massive (went on as far as I could see in all directions) office sitting in front of a desk. I was asked what kind of life I wanted.. easy or hard. The easier it was in this life, the harder it would be in the next. I said not too hard.. Life was really hard for the next 30 years. I am hoping my next life is a lot easier than this one....

Your life is hard because you believe it will be. Law of attraction.

We are programmed to believe money doesn't come eadily, life is hard etc. breaking the cycle is the key. Being positive and making only statements about what we want is key. Rhyming off all the things we don't want only brings more of them to reality.

    .....this better work!!! Lol

I understand what you are saying. Years ago my attitude was far more positive. I'm still trying hard to get back there because it was a better place mentally than the past two years.

This reminds me of the good ol' "predestination vs free will" debates in my apologetics classes I had in my early 20's. I won't start though or I'll never stop. LOL

Umm no... my life was hard because by the time I was 11, I was almost killed 3 times, and was locked in a basement for 5 years.
That causes all sorts of psychological and developmental issues..

That is the typical victim mentality. It does not serve you. I have been attacked with a machete before right I front of my house you can't make excuses in life. Unfortunately the harsh reality is that we attract everything to ourselves good and bad. Simply by feeling bad and having negative thoughts about ourselves can call unknown events into our lives. It is a tough pill to swallow but my life changed for the better when I accepted it. Don't be a victim anymore.

I feel like this all the time. I have yet to figure out a way to deal with it. I do believe it is directy affected by your mindset.

Good times those classes, huh? I used to spend hours discussing topics like that over coffee with peers. Never really productive but the critical thinking was enjoyable.

All that we are came from the universe in such a specific way to create life, thoughts, and consciousness. All that made from elements found in the exploding stars. MIND BLOWN!! Makes the Egyptian sun god seem like a plausible thought. Energy Can not be destroyed only transferred. The atoms in your body will make up something else later. MIND BLOWN. makes reincarnation seem a understandable thought. We are smart enough to understand we know nothing.
