The Gospel of Judas
https://screen.yahoo.com/gospel-juda...094042025.html
i brought this up quite awhile ago, and some had very puzzling comments, like there was no such thing as the Gospel of Judas.
Felt compelled to bring this up since some seemed to think I had put too much in my bowl of whatever it was i was smoking.

Pretty interesting. From a historian perspective, I'd like to hear more definitive conclusions on the translation, but the mere fact that there were records found like this is facinating.

I generally steer clear of religious discussions but I do feel that this deserves attention. Personally, I think it is well worth researching, especially if you look at the description of Judas' death in Acts....sounds like he had someone help him to his death, if you know what I mean.
Again, for me this is a very personal subject, so I don't comment on it very much.
Very interesting material!!!Last edited by almostgone; 03-31-2014 at 11:07 PM.

Ive heard/read there are several books are missing because they dont fit the teachings of the Catholic church. I believe that. I dont think these missing chapters would make a fundamental change in belief or what happened, more just details we never knew or read.

I am a huge Roman Imperial history nut!
In 325 AD Constantine I, brought all the bishops of the world together and formed the first Council of Nicaea. At this council several things happened:
1. They voted and Christ became the Son of God... (He was only in 1/2 the churches. In the rest he was a prophet.)
2. They voted on which books were to be in the bible.
3. The celebration of Easter was passed.
4. The Trinity was created
5. The role of the Bishop of Rome was debated.
The Second Council of Nicaea in 787 mainly worked over images, icons etc.
So back to you statement TR, yes there are many books of of the bible that are not in the bible anymore. I believe the last book to be removed from the bible was in the late 900's. Interestingly Revelation barely made it into the bible.

Then I tell him that science is more believable and he tells me I'm going to hell *shrug*

Why would Judas have hung himself after giving up Jesus if God told him to do so? He would have been rewarded for doing so. Judas was over taken by Satan and greed made him do what he did. The prophets in the Old Testament spoke about the Messiah being giving up by one of his disciples hundreds of years before Jesus was born.

From Wiki
Mary Magdalene (original Greek Μαρία ἡ Μαγδαληνή),[2] or Mary of Magdala and sometimes The Magdalene, is a religious figure in Christianity. She is usually thought of as the second-most important woman in the New Testament after Mary, the mother of Jesus.[3] Mary Magdalene traveled with Jesus as one of his followers. She was present at Jesus' two most important moments: the crucifixion and the resurrection.[4] Within the four Gospels, the oldest historical record mentioning her name, she is named at least 12 times,[5] more than most of the apostles. The Gospel references describe her as courageous, brave enough to stand by Jesus in his hours of suffering, death and beyond.[3]
In the New Testament, Jesus cleansed her of "seven demons",[Lk. 8:2] [Mk. 16:9] sometimes interpreted as referring to complex illnesses.[6] Mary was most prominent during Jesus' last days. When Jesus was crucified by the Romans, Mary Magdalene was there supporting him in his final moments and mourning his death.[4] She stayed with him at the cross after the other disciples (except John the Beloved) had fled. She was at his burial, and she is the only person that all four Gospels say was first to realize that Jesus had risen and to testify to that central teaching of faith.[7][8] John 20 and Mark 16:9 specifically name her as the first person to see Jesus after his Resurrection. She was there at the "beginning of a movement that was going to transform the West".[4] She was the "Apostle to the Apostles", an honorific that fourth-century orthodox theologian Augustine gave her[9] and that others earlier had possibly conferred on her.
Throughout the centuries there have been many extra-biblical speculations about her role before and after she met Jesus. These have included harlot, wife, mother and secret lover.[4][5][9] Her true role seems to have been of leadership among the women following Jesus, similar to the role of Simon Peter among the men.
St. Mary Magdalene is considered to be a saint by the Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican and Lutheran churches—with a feast day of July 22. Other Protestant churches honor her as a heroine in the faith. The Eastern Orthodox churches also commemorate her on the Sunday of the Myrrhbearers, the Orthodox equivalent of one of the Western Three Marys traditions.

The timing of that scripture was disproved.
