OMG...another girl and I were messing around in basketball practice singing the Sylvia/Micky part and the coach got ticked and overhand pitched a basketball at us...could hear it whizzing by all the way on the opposite side of the court!!
And it was 1987. (Did a Yahoo search.)

Excellent choices, but the Irish votes go to:
Dangerous Liasons
Star Wars Trilogy (obviously the original's the best by far)
A River runs Through it
Being John Malkovich
Shawshank Redemption
Six Degrees of Seperation
The English Patient
The Big Blue (not sure if this on made it over to your side of the Pond!).
Not seen Lord of the Rings yet, but if it's half as good as the book, I might add that to the list too.

TNT here is my fav list ! (mind you not what I said were the BEST movies)
1) 7 Days in May
(Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas are great, but Frederic March steals the movie)
2) Wintess for the Prosecution
(Charles Laughton is amazing, and so is Elsa Lanchester, but Marlene Dietrich ....wow, what a woman)
3) Moulin Rouge
(groundbreaking movie that I believe will win the Oscar for best pic this year)
4) The Manchurian Candidate
(Angela Landsbury as you have never seen her, brava performance by her)
5) All about Eve
(who can forget Bette davis saying....Fasten your seat belts, we're in for a bumpy night)
6) Strangers on a Train
(Hitchcock's finest I believe)
7) Judgement at Nurembürg
(incredible cast with a knockout performance by Judy Garland in an amazing dramatic performance)
8) The Children's Hour
(Exploration of the up until then taboo subject of lesbianism)
9) Georgy Girl
(yes I'm sure TNT will be surprised by this one, but I love Lynn Redgrave)
10) Gods & Monsters
(again a brava performance by Lynn Redgrave, my girl )
Well what do you guys think of that list? These are the movies I have seen at least 5-6 times and if I see they are listed in the TV Book I will schedule my life around them to see them again.Last edited by Canes4Ever; 02-11-2002 at 01:18 PM.

I'm with Pete. It's to hard to name just one. Here's my list:
Amadeus, Fight Club, When Harry met Sally, Groundhog Day, Scarface, The King of New York(Chris Walken rules), The Natural(Best Sports movie ever), Meet Joe Black(Great acting and story and it has Claire Forlani(Wow, in it), The Terminator(especially the first half). Sleepless in Seatle(Love Meg Ryan). Gladiator. There's a lot more I'm leaving out. If I had to name one I would probably say Amadeus(Greatest genius to ever live) But there are so many great ones.
I like The Natural also as my favorite Sports movie. It's indeed a classic.

Has anyone mentioned Full Metal Jacket?
"Stand up and sound off like you got a pair!"
"This is my rifle, this is my gun. This one's for fightin', this one's for fun." (is that how it goes?)
