The NRA has released a statement telling these people to scale it back and restaurants are banning these people from eating at their businesses. I have no idea if its common or not but there is no reason for 10 people to sit down for dinner at chillis with AR's

nothing wrong with having guns, and even carrying them.
proper training and respect of the weapon are a given though...........

It's not common. But many people carry here, and no one really ever objects. Not even the hippies. I think it's safe to assume that just about every car has a gun in it. Or shotgun in the open.

Its no secret I kinda like guns but I see no need to open carry. Its a practice normally reserved for younger kids showing off. IMO it makes you the first target!

I agree. No need to brandish and make people nervous.
I actually think its anti gun activist who are doing it to make people upset and nervous so they will change the law. I dont see why anyone would do that knowing its going to upset others just because its legal.
If it was some hunting community where everyone had them and didn't want to leave them in the car, that's different. No need to take a rifle over your shoulder into Denny's on a Sunday morning.

I actually prefer concealed carry. Openly schlepping around your firearm kinda gives away an advantage/ creates a liability for the carrier.
IMO, no one need know you're carrying unless they have created a situation that puts you in a life threatening situation...(or others, depending on your state laws). There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

I guess its one thing to carry a handgun and something totally diff to be walking with an AR slung across your back... I mean this is USA not Baghdad or West Bank or Yemen or Afghanistan for crying out loud...
IMO what would cause people to behave like this would be some sort of protest...like protesting against something...surely they are not afraid for their lives to that extent...plus in an urban scenario like the ones in the pic (supermarket etc) and in USA, an AR is something of an overkill ... what next? RPGs? it does not make sense.
some of the pics are people posing with ARs which is common but not walking around with them.

I am from Canada and this would never happen you would be shot by the first cop that pulled up to you. If not shot, would end up in jail for 5 plus years.

When referring to firearms rights people always use the word "need'. We dont Need anything besides food and water, this isnt about what firearms we need, its about the firearms we have an intrinsic right to own. I personally wouldnt open carry to specifically draw attention but i defend these guys right to protest and bring awareness to them selves. Ive never seen any one in washington state open carrying ever

Pretty sure he was messing with you. Not sure if he knows you are from Australia. He is a Texan and like all Texans we like our guns. Crime rate drops when criminals done know who is carrying a gun or see someone with an open carry.
If you every make it to the US HMU and I will take you shooting all types of guns and you will see how much fun they are.
